@ Anna Blume [Halloween Edition] - A cozy book swap and chat meetup!

A spooky version of our "classic" bookswap! \- Swappers are encouraged to wear **costumes**. \- There will be a dedicated **horror books table**, so bring out your favourite horror books and exchange them for new-to-you books. \- We'll bring some Halloween **decoration**, but please reach out to us to contribute more. The usual blurb follows: The "classical" bookswap is simple: * We meet in a café and put the book(s) we brought down on the tables. * We go around to browse and discuss the books with one another while sipping coffee or hot chocolate, or eating cake. * We write our names down on any books we’d like to take home (post-its and pens provided). * At the end of the evening, negotiate any books that are contended and take a new-to-you book home! Books/happiness shared are books/happiness multiplied! A Bookswap is 10 times better than a Book Club because you can talk about ALL the books instead of just one! This is a great way to give your books a new home and make room for new books: that book you feel guilty for not having read even though it's been sitting on your bedside table for the last 5 years, the book you liked but didn't love, the book you loved so much you want everyone to read it, the book you somehow own three copies of, that book you absolutely hated even though everyone else loves it, and so on. Moreover, you will meet fellow readers, get a new book or two, and several book recommendations. We’ve often had readers experience books they wouldn't normally buy and enjoy it. GROUP EXPECTATIONS for PLEASANT SWAPPING * Please bring a book! It's not that you bring one you take one, but do try your best to bring something. * Books stay on the tables, open for sharing, until you are ready to leave so that everyone can have a look. We are notably not first come first serve. Please wait until you are leaving to bag the book. * If two or more people want the only copy of a book, negotiate. Maybe one of you reads it first and then gives it to the others. Or perhaps they have found another book instead. Or leave it to fate and toss a coin. The best part: now you have found somebody whose taste you can really admire. In any case, please don't walk away with a book with several names on it without letting the others know. These negotiations are fun and easy, so don't shy away from a book because there's already a name on it, and feel free to put your name on as many books as you find interesting. It's not that you bring one you take one; you may take as many as you can negotiate. * Political discussions with consent: make sure the people you are talking to would like to have a political discussion with you. * Please respect this space as first and foremost a community for connecting readers over their love of books and reading, stories, and narratives of all sorts. Please be respectful of tastes and opinions. * If something is bothering you, please reach out to the organizers, and we'll do our best to resolve it. * Lastly, don't expect your book back. It will find a new home. If you love it, let it go. **Dear Heart Shaped Friends and Cuties 👻** Last year’s ***Carnival Noir*** still lingers fondly in our little hearts, so we are summoning it back for a third time!! <3 This year, your impossible circus of the underworld has found itself three peculiar directors: my fellow witch and long-time friend Mona, my trusted keeper of all things strange Ljöscha, and myself. **Together, we invite you into the darkest parade between the worlds of the living and the dead.** 🎃 **🦇 The Underworld** For our third annual ***Carnival Noir***, we are taking over the back room of **The Castle at Nordbahnhof**, hidden from the mortals behind a literal curtain. Once you cross the threshold, the circus awakens, where horror clowns, bloody cotton candy and curious creatures await. And if you behave yourself, perhaps we shall even allow you to return to the living before the night is through. The room has direct access to the smoking area, plus two extra-comfy couches in the middle room for creatures who need to escape the spectacle for a moment, catch their breath, or perhaps disappear into the arms of another creature of the night. 🍿 **The Circus Attractions** There will, naturally, be attractions to discover along the way. 📸 **The Polaroid Photobooth** will be awaiting with strange and wonderful accessories for you and your fellow creatures, with real Polaroids to take home as proof you survived your visit. ⚰️ **Black-and-White Vampiric Films** will be screened on the TV for those wishing to disappear into another story for a while. 🔮 Somewhere among the shadows and webs of fog, **an entity with a crystal ball and a deck of tarot cards will offer glimpses into what lies ahead, or perhaps what has already passed.** Whether you wish to know is, of course, entirely your own affair. 🩸 **The Haunted Buffet** will be provided by all of us. Bring your spookiest culinary creation and leave it among the offerings. In exchange, each brave contributor may claim one song wish from the three directors. *(Orders from the Castle are: All food is allowed if spooky. Please also order food from the bar - they have pizzas (vegan and non-vegan) and fries).* 🎤And should the lights beyond our curtain call to you, the mortals in the front room will also be hosting **karaoke**. It is not part of our Carnival and is hosted separately, but you are welcome to wander between the two worlds. Just remember which side of the curtain you belong to. 🕷️ **The Soundtrack of the Underworld** If we are going to drag you into the underworld, we might as well give you something worth dancing to on the way down. Expect the best of post-hardcore and emo, with a heavy dose of female-fronted pop punk and the occasional crabcore gem. BMF Halloween! All-night rage in Roderich

It’s HALLLLLOWWEEEEEN (on a Saturday no less, that’s gotta be a sign). The scariest night of the year, especially if you’re a liver (sober people welcome too of course!). Come congregate with your fellow metalheads on this hallowed eve as we convert the entire main floor of Roderich into a ghastly, gothic testament to our love of the sinister and also of having insane nights together. 21:00 at Roderich in Pankow, the madness shall begin in earnest. Halloween Horrow Fest Murder Mystery - Live Detective Investigation

Hello, fellow private investigators, Join us for our halloween themed live group investigation into the fictional unsolved murder of a movie theatre owner. This isn't a roleplay night — you won't be assigned a character or a script. We're all detectives working the same case, reading witness statements, forensic reports, crime scene photos and evidence files, and reasoning out loud as a group to figure out who did it and why. 🎃 **Halloween special:** Come dressed in your best Halloween costume while we crack the case! It’s optional but very much encouraged. The **best-dressed man and woman of the afternoon will each take home a little gift from me.** ***What to expect*** **Format:** A sealed cold case file, opened in stages. Each stage ends with a checkpoint question, and you unlock the next envelope by proving what the evidence shows. No host feeding you answers, just the evidence. A sealed hint is available if you get stuck. **Teams:** We'll split into teams of 3–6 investigators. Come with friends or on your own and I'll place you. **Time:** Roughly 2–3 hours. This is a sit-down, take-notes-and-argue kind of afternoon. **Difficulty:** Choose easy, medium or hard at check-in. **Experience:** None needed, and you don't have to have joined the earlier cases. No puzzles to decode, no trivia knowledge required. Everything you need to solve it is somewhere in the file. **Language:** This event will be held in English. **Location:** A cosy café in Mitte. The exact address will be sent to you three days before the event. **Cost:** €5 per person, collected at check-in.
