# 🎃 The Ghosts of the University of Toronto 👻 ### A 90-Minute Halloween Ghost Walk Through Toronto's Haunted History L ooking for something a little different this Halloween season? Join us for a **guided ghost walk through the University of Toronto campus and its eerie surroundings**, exploring some of the stories, legends, and strange histories hidden in one of Toronto's oldest neighbourhoods. This isn't one of our regular walks where we're simply following a trail and enjoying the scenery. **This is a curated storytelling experience.** I've researched the locations, developed the route, and put together the stories specifically for this experience. We'll explore some of the darker corners of the university and surrounding neighbourhoods while uncovering the people, places, and legends that have given them their haunted reputations. 🕯️ Along the way, we'll hear stories about: * What the Christies — yes, *Mr. Christie Cookies* — were hiding in their mansion 🍪 * The restless little girl who is never happy 👧 * What might really be lurking inside Queen's Park 👀 * Haunted stories connected to University of Toronto buildings * The Royal Conservatory of Music * The Royal Ontario Museum * And some other stories that are better experienced after dark... 👻 You don't have to believe in ghosts. Along the way we'll: * Hear stories about some of Toronto's most intriguing characters and locations * Explore the darker history of the University of Toronto * Visit locations associated with ghost stories and local legends * Learn the history behind some of the buildings around us * Walk through Queen's Park and the surrounding area * Finish at the **Royal Ontario Museum** We'll remain **outside the buildings** throughout the experience. The walking pace will be moderate, with plenty of stops along the way for stories. *** ## 🕯️ This Is More Than a Walk Our regular walks are about getting outside, exploring Toronto, and meeting people. This one is different. **This is a guided storytelling experience.** The route and stories have been researched and developed specifically for this event, so you're not just following me from one location to another — you're getting a story about the city as we go. And because it's Halloween season, we'll be doing it after dark. 🎃 *** ## 🍂 What to Expect This is an outdoor walking experience, so please dress appropriately for the weather. We'll be walking for approximately **90 minutes**, with regular stops for storytelling. There is **no entry into any buildings**, so you won't need to worry about museum admission or other entrance fees. And while some of the stories are genuinely creepy, this isn't designed to be a horror attraction. Sometimes they remain where unfinished business keeps them tethered. And sometimes, apparently, they just really like a particular chair. On this walking tour, we'll explore some of the stranger stories connected to **Queen West and Yonge Street** — from hospitals and theatres to music halls, historic buildings, and some rather unexpected places. Some of these people met their fate on these streets. **Most didn't.** Ghosts are funny that way. This is a **curated storytelling experience**, combining Toronto history, local legends, and some of the city's more unusual ghost stories. Avengers’ Saturday Cafe for the Homeless

Note: You may be removed from the attendance list if you've participated in the previous week's event. This allows for more people to experience this Meetup. Avengers put your costumes on and let’s go and save the world!
Well we can’t save the world (yet), but we aim to try to play a small part in the lives of those experiencing homelessness by making their day a bit better!
Description: Before the event the organizer will post a list in the comment section of the attendees and what they are responsible to bring (food/drink, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies). We normally ask each attending member to bring approximately $15-20 worth of ingredients/supplies to our event. We will use the items to prepare and serve food/drink at The Meeting Place.
Timeline: We will meet on location at 11:00 am, with lunch served between 12:30-1:00 pm.
Membership Dues: Membership dues are $2.00 for the calendar year. Membership dues go towards paying for food/supplies incurred by no-shows. Membership dues are due at the first meetup of the year that you attend.
No Shows/Late Un-RSVP: We’re relying on members who RSVP to bring key ingredients for recipes! Please try your best to show-up or alternatively change your RSVP early so another member may fill the empty spot.

Goth Night featuring DJ Ivan Palmer, all night long. **This one is for you.** I am beyond happy to invite you back to the BatCave North, where we come together to celebrate our outrageous uniqueness, with DJ Ivan Palmer, Toronto’s original goth DJ. The BatCave North was born from me, back in 1984, and it grew into something special long before the word Goth was even part of the conversation in Toronto. When the original Batcave sound came out of the U.K. in the wake of the Punk movement, it completely captivated me, and I am honoured to be one of the people who helped carry the Batcave and Goth movement forward here at home. Fast forward to today, I now own and operate Disc Jockeys Unlimited, which keeps most of my time and focus. But I never stopped missing the dance floor, and I never stopped missing our BatCave North nights. Getting to co-create this space again, where all my Gothlings can come together, is something I genuinely love being a part of. $10 Cover at the door.
