JOURNEY THROUGH THE REDWOODS

JOURNEY THROUGH THE REDWOODS

Sat, May 30, 5:00 PM
From Iama Embodied Community
4.9

Tucked away in the Oakland Hills, this hidden gem is home to mostly second- and third-generation coastal redwoods, descendants of the ancient giants that once stood alongside the sacred California grizzly and soaring condors. Today, these trees stretch skyward, carrying that legacy forward. This will be an easy to moderate 3-mile journey, with approximately 350 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Along the way, we’ll encounter a variety of wild berries, from strawberries and huckleberries to the soft, velvety touch of thimbleberries and more. Michael will share practical knowledge on how to locate water in the landscape, and reading subtle signs from birds, trees, and leaves. You’ll also learn how to recognize when you’re nearing the ocean, guided by the presence of specific plant species. Elizabeth will offer insights into crows and ravens, marveling at their deep sense of community, reverence, and the way they invite us to see the world with curiosity and wonder. We’ll finish the journey with a relaxed tea gathering. Hot water will be provided; please bring your favorite tea and a snack to share.
