Casual Drinks, Conversations, and Trivia
Thu, Sep 17, 11:00 PMJoin me for casual drinks and conversations, and a couple rounds of trivia. This is an event where people from around the neighborhood just meet and talk. Talk about your day, talk about your life, talk about the weather, talk about your hobbies. Anything and everything is welcome! Then, at 8pm, we can join the rest of the bar in a round of Trivia where we can test our repitoire of all-important knowledge. Hopefully we can make meaningful connections and turn strangers into friends.

Skip the Small Talk Night at Bibliotheque NYC
Wed, Sep 9, 11:00 PM**###PLEASE NOTE: Even if you RSVP on Meetup, you will need to grab a ticket here https://www.skipthesmalltalk.com/store/skip-the-small-talk-night-at-bibliotheque-nyc-wednesday-september-9-2026 in order to attend###** This event is cross-posted so Meetup RSVPs won't accurately reflect the actual number of attendees; typically there are around 30-40 people in attendance.**What's It Like?** Do you wish you could have more of the kinds of conversations you have late at night where for some reason, you feel safe talking about the things you actually care about? Bring your friends (or come by yourself- most people do!) and spend your Wednesday night at an event where you know everyone else is there for the same reason. We'll be offering 'big talk' conversational prompts on them to get you started, and we'll have lots of structure to make sure that you actually talk to people and that it's not awkward. There will be food and drinks for sale! **There is a 2 drink/food item minimum purchase for this event,** so please keep that in mind. **Check-in** for this event will begin around **6:45 PM**. Please do your best to arrive before 7:00 PM so we can begin as close to on time as possible. Skip the Small Talk is dedicated to providing an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone. Check out our safety policy here: tinyurl.com/ststSafety Please see our event [page](https://www.skipthesmalltalk.com/store/skip-the-small-talk-night-at-bibliotheque-nyc-wednesday-september-9-2026) for more accessibility info. **Ready to Skip the Small Talk With Us?** **[Grab a ticket](https://www.skipthesmalltalk.com/store/skip-the-small-talk-night-at-bibliotheque-nyc-wednesday-september-9-2026)** since entry is on a first come first serve basis and we tend to sell out in advance for these-- once we are out of tickets, we will NOT be able to accommodate folks at the door. If you want to be the first to hear about our events before we sell out, feel free to join our mailing list at [Skip the Small Talk Mailing List Sign-Up](https://sendfox.com/skipthesmalltalk)

Brooklyn Bridge Date Walk (aka Singles Sunset Stroll) 20s, 30s, 40s
Sat, Sep 5, 10:30 PM**\*GET TICKETS AT:** [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/brooklyn-bridge-singles-sunset-date-walk-tickets-1996371438714](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/brooklyn-bridge-singles-sunset-date-walk-tickets-1996371438714) (\*Limited # of women save $5 by using promo code "5" at checkout. Multiple groups are co-organizing so the RSVP's shown are just a very small portion of the total members attending. Space is extremely limited as this event sells out every time.) Join fun and friendly singles for a sunset stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge. Our "Date Walks" are very casual and non-awkward way to meet others. Your host will be there to make introductions and will have everyone rotate, asking the men and women to switch so everyone gets a chance to talk with everyone. We will first meet at a Starbucks where you can grab a drink for your walk. Then we'll walk a 1.5-2 mile stretch to the Brooklyn Bridge Park to NYC. We will also hang afterwards in a nearby area. FAQs: **How many will attend?** We limit the # of attendees to 30 so that everyone has enough time to get to know each other. **What are the ages?** We'll have a good mix of ages and everyone usually finds others in their age group. **What if rains?** We will email attendees a new date. **Can I come alone?** Yes, about 90% come on their own. **How much?** $15-$25 depending upon when you get ticket and # of spots left. Sun, Sep 6, 12:30 PMWelcome to Casual Baseball Club (CBC). We are CoEd and all experience levels are welcomed this is a friendly but competitive game. We are open to all who are looking to play. The aim of each session is to have balanced teams facing each other, you will be assigned a team prior to the session and be expected to cooperate with your teammates. The Meetup is minimum of $5 per session, Venmo/Cash app and Cash are accepted. If there are any issues finding us, contact Abel @ 917-808-7441. Follow us on instagram @ https://instagram.com/centralparkbaseballclub?r=nametag ***RULES*** \*Honor your RSVP! If you RSVP you are agreeing to make it to the session. Not showing up ruins the experience for everyone, so only RSVP if you can actually arrive. If something comes up, give us a heads up or simply switch your RSVP to not going. We don't charge you to RSVP so lets play by the honor system. However, if you are a no show 2 times you will automatically be put onto the waitlist going forward. \*Slide Rule! When you are a runner on first base, and running to second base on a hit, make an active effort to get out of the fielder's throw (if you want more clarification just ask and we'll explain) otherwise we'll rule it a Double play \*Wooden Bats Only!! CBC supplies public equipment for anyone to use marked with green tape, however, players are welcomed to bring their own personal equipment and have it for their own personal use. So don't break somebody's beloved bat, just use the public bats. \*Team assignment When assigned a team please be sure to show up with that color. We supply the Meetup with Bats, Baseballs, Bases, Catching Gear, and Helmets. From your end, it is not too difficult to bring a colored shirt and a glove

Food For Thought (F4T)
Sun, Sep 13, 4:00 PMFood For Thought (F4T) is a friendly weekend brunch for people who enjoy discussing serious and "serious" topics with other smart, engaging people. We welcome everyone, whether you are a card-carrying philosopher or are maybe not quite sure who Plato was. The only qualification you need is that you enjoy thinking and eating and can do both at the same time! The F4T Brunch will meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. We will have a new suggested topic each month, though wandering off topic is also allowed! (Good luck trying to stop that from happening.) These will span Science, Philosophy, Politics, History, Economics, and more. Attendees will be invited to propose the topic for the next brunch. We are a friendly group, but we must restrict the attendance to 12 members , so we can all participate in a common conversation. And if you sign up, we expect you to show up! Two no-shows and you will be blocked from attending. (If you can't make it at the last minute, just change your RSVP.) To keep up to date on CFI-NYC events, you should sign up for our new, improved monthly newsletter! Just go to https://cfi-nyc.org/ and click Receive E-mails, at the bottom right. The topic for each event to be announced in the Comment section, below.
