**BCRG first Sunday of the month social ride** **What to Expect:** This is a monthly riding event that the organizers of BRCG created to socialize between the different groups and levels of the participants of this meetup. Every organizer shares the details of their ride below, and you can attend by signing up for the event and answering the name of the organizer you will go with. After the rides, all groups will meet for drinks at the meeting point, Mode Bar, in Badalona **Is This Ride for Me?** Before signing up for a ride, check the details of the route, elevation, km, and expected speed level. While this ride is open to everyone, we ask that you are comfortable riding in groups, have a **road bike**, and **have done rides of similar distance and elevation** before. We welcome all newcomers, but everyone is expected to be **self-sufficient**; therefore, please bring not only your helmet, a spare inner tube, at least 1 L of water, and an energy snack if you wish, but also sync the route, bring a phone, and some cash. **Safety:** Beside wearing a helmet, proper shoes (not open shoes) and a road bike in good conditions **every rider is responsible of his own safety** and must respect the [spanish cyclist regulations](https://www.dgt.es/comunicacion/noticias/20-normas-que-todo-ciclista-debe-conocer/), ultimate safety starts and ends with everyone riding responsibly. Ride leaders will do their best to keep the group together, moving smoothly and safely at all times. We'll stop at red lights and obey traffic rules. **There's no commercial interest behind this event;** it's just a bunch of people sharing a fun day out. Practical Philosophy Meetup - Barcelona 🇪🇸

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Barcelona 🇪🇸

Mon, Nov 2, 6:30 PM
From Practical Philosophy Club - Barcelona 🇪🇸
4.9

**🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 **📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/LAtygOTKzmf1SnQKzJl68Z), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. When groups get bigger than 6-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline: * **Arrival (first 15 minutes or so):** People arrive, chat, and get to know each other before the official start. * **Introduction (about 10 minutes): T**he organizer explains Practical Philosophy, introduces this week’s topic, and reads the guidelines so everyone knows what to expect. * **Small-group discussion (the bulk of the meetup):** If there are more than 8–10 people, we split into small groups. Introduce yourselves, share your first thoughts on the topic, then open up the discussion. The jump-off questions are there to help guide the conversation if needed, but there’s no obligation to answer them. * **Wrap-up (last 15 minutes):** Everyone comes back together, and each group gives a short one-minute summary of their conclusions. The organizer closes the meeting and we take a group photo. * **After the meetup:** The official meeting is over, but many people stick around to chat and get to know each other in a more relaxed setting. **🧧PRICING?** Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! At the Barcelona group, we often meet in a friends house. In this case, we ask that everyone bring a snack or a drink to share! **💛 WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY** **🗣** “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam 🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel **🤓 FAQ** * **What will we talk about? What's the topic?** ****The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/LAtygOTKzmf1SnQKzJl68Z). * **Do I need to study or read anything to attend?** No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required. * **Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?** The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school. * **Is it mostly men that attend?** Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms. * **Can I come alone?** Of course you can, we encourage it :) * **Can I be late?** Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation. * **Where do you meet?** The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/LAtygOTKzmf1SnQKzJl68Z) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/). **PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY CLUB - Philosophy, everywhere. ✨** We started in Practical Philosophy back in 2021 and there are now 20+ chapters in over 15 countries, including Canada, Spain, Japan, Mexico and many more! 🗺️ **\*\*\*** **Join our [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/LAtygOTKzmf1SnQKzJl68Z) 👈** **Follow us on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/practicalphilosophyclub/) 👈** **Our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/) 👈**

A beautiful high-mountain hike in the Catalan Pyrenees, reaching one of the classic summits of the Ripollès, with open ridges, alpine meadows and stunning views over the eastern Pyrenees. ¡No pasa nada! Moshe ps: Cualquier pregunta, enviarnos un WhatsApp al +34 699 444 539 \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 🥾 **The Plan** We’ll head to the Ripollès for a beautiful high-mountain hike to the top of Balandrau, a 2,585 m summit located near Vall de Núria and the upper Ter and Freser valleys. The route starts from the Collet de la Gralla area, where we’ll park directly on the dirt track, just where the hiking trail begins. The access road is an easy dirt track. From there, we’ll begin a steady ascent through open mountain terrain, gradually gaining altitude with beautiful views over the surrounding valleys and Pyrenean peaks. The landscape is wide, peaceful and very characteristic of this part of the Ripollès: grassy slopes, open ridges and that special high-mountain feeling without needing a very long approach. As we get closer to the summit, the route becomes more panoramic. Reaching the top of Balandrau is the big reward of the day: a spacious summit with incredible views over the eastern Pyrenees, the Vall de Núria area, Coma de Vaca, the Freser valley and the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the summit, we’ll continue the circular route back towards the starting point, with time to enjoy the views, take photos and soak in the mountain atmosphere before heading back to Barcelona. This is not a technically difficult hike in summer conditions, but it is still a high-mountain route. The terrain is open and exposed to weather, so good hiking shoes, proper clothing and a decent fitness level are required. **Good to know** Balandrau is one of the classic summits of the Ripollès and has recently gained extra attention thanks to a film/documentary inspired by its mountain history. Our route focuses on the beautiful side of this peak: open ridges, alpine meadows and panoramic views over the eastern Pyrenees. **How to sign up?** Step 1: 👋 Sign up for Meetup on the attendee list Step 2: 💰Make the payment of €40 in our website: [https://www.yepalo.com/events/hike-up-to-the-top-of-balandrau-2-585-m-2](https://www.yepalo.com/events/hike-up-to-the-top-of-balandrau-2-585-m-2) IMPORTANT: This is the only way to ensure a place for the activity. **🚦 Difficulty Level: Medium** This hike requires good physical condition and is suitable for people who are used to hiking for 6–8 hours in mountain terrain. Distance: 10,3 Km 🔘🔘⚪⚪⚪ Total elevation gain: +664 m 🔘🔘🔘⚪ ⚪ Technical difficulty: 🔘🔘⚪⚪ ⚪ There are no technical climbing sections, but the route takes place in high-mountain terrain. 🚗 **How do we get there?** By shared private cars from Barcelona. During the booking process you’ll be invited to tell us if you have a car and how many people can come with you in the car. You can also meet us at destination at 9AM. Every passenger will pay 20 euros to the driver for gas and tolls. Depending on the weather forecast and temperatures, we may decide to leave earlier from Barcelona. 🎒**Bring** * Mountain shoes (high boots are highly recommended) * Comfortable mountain clothing * Warm layer / fleece * Windproof / waterproof jacket * Sun protection: sunglasses, cap, sunscreen * Picnic + snacks * Water: at least 1.5L, ideally 2L * Walking sticks recommended (we have spare ones if needed) * Extra T-shirt to change before getting back into the cars **👥 Group Size:** Maximum of 12 participants. 🤠 **Guide**: Toni 💰 **Price:** *€40* **🚗** Special price for the first 2 drivers: €25 If you have a car and can take 3 people or more from the meeting point in Barcelona, choose the driver ticket. The final access to the start of the hike is via a mountain forest track (5KM). It is suitable for normal cars and is not recommended for very low cars. ➕ **Price includes:** Official mountain guide Accident insurance + civil liability insurance ➖ **Not included:** Transportation (€20 to be paid directly to the driver) **Cancellation policy**: Change of plans? No problem! If you cancel more than 72 hours in advance, we’ll give you a 100% voucher valid for 3 months so you won’t miss out on future adventures. 🌟 Late cancellation? Oh no... in that case, full payment is required. However, if you can’t make it and we manage to fill your spot with someone else, we’ll offer you a voucher for a future activity. ✨ Extra info: If the weather's acting up, we might switch things up for your safety and maximum fun. ☔🌞 Moshe ¡YEPALO!
