🏖️ Hike on the Beach
Sun, Aug 23, 1:00 PM🌊 Ready to uncover one of Georgian Bay's best-kept secrets? Join us for a day at **Awenda Provincial Park**! We'll hike along a stunning lakeshore trail, hopping past rocky points and hidden coves, all the way to one of the cleanest, calmest beaches around. Once we get there - it's all yours: swim, sunbathe, play beach games, and refuel with a group picnic right on the sand 🍉🏖️ Not into sitting still? There's a bonus short trail to a quiet little lake tucked inside the park - perfect for those who want to keep exploring while the rest of us are working on our tans. 🥾 One trail, two vibes - **hike hard or relax on the beach**, everyone's welcome. ☀️ **What to Expect** • Moderate walk (\~1.5–2 hours total), mostly flat with one rocky/uneven stretch around the point - nothing technical, just watch your footing • No lifeguards at the beach - everyone swims at their own comfort level • Cell signal can be spotty in parts of the park • Washrooms available near the main parking area, not on the beach itself • Weather-dependent - we'll confirm the day before if anything changes ✨ **Price:** $65 - participants without their own transportation 🚶♀️ $40 - participants driving their own car 🚗 (without passengers) - promocode **SELFDRIVE** $25 - participants driving their own car 🚗 and willing to take 3+ passengers (driver pays for gas themselves) - promocode **DRIVEROFF** **Price includes:** guidance throughout the hike, light snacks and transportation coordination for participants without cars. 📍 **Meeting place:** Vaughan subway station ‼ **Difficulty:** Easy 🙋♀️ **Guide:** Kate - an ambassador for hiking and outdoor excursions in all seasons. A coach and advocate for the idea that therapy can save everyone. And what could be more therapeutic than walks in nature?! 🎒 **What to Wear & Bring** • Swimsuit + towel • Closed-toe water shoes or sandals with good grip - a section of the trail near Methodist Point is rocky, and part of it may require walking right along the shoreline. • Comfortable hiking shoes/sneakers for the trail itself • Hat/cap + sunscreen (there's little shade directly on the beach) • Refillable water bottle - bring more than you think you'll need, it's a hot walk • Your own lunch/snacks - light and easy to carry Contact number for the host, exact meeting spot, and other details will be shared with you right after registration, in the comments of this event. If you have any questions — feel free to message us! 💙

Wilder Series: Secret Wilderness Hike & Swim
Sat, Aug 22, 11:00 AM**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/ragged-rapids)** ***The Wilder Series is back! Are you up to the challenge?!*** We're heading deep into Ontario's Canadian Shield for a day on one of the province's most rugged backcountry routes. Tucked inside a little-known nature location, this trail trades manicured paths for raw granite, beaver dams, and dense forest that test both legs and navigation skills in equal measure. While only 15km, this trek and it's technical terrain are no joke. However, the payoff is incredible: raging rapids, amazing views and an incredible wilderness swim that you won't soon forget! **Secret Location** This is one of Wilderness Union's secret hikes. We visit spots that are undiscovered by the wider world, keep them pristine, and share them only among members. The location is revealed to registered members in the days before the trip. ***Please note that attendees will need a high fitness level to successfully complete this adventure. This will be a serious challenge!*** **Highlights** **True Wilderness:** Experience the Canadian shield in all of its glory! Unmanicured, untamed and unbelievably beautiful. **Beaver Dams:** Cross quiet backcountry ponds and streams along the way. **Powerful Rapids**: The Black River churns through a gorge with 20–30m cliffs. **Event cost: $60+HST (for explorer members) - $50 optional transport available.** **Register [here.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/ragged-rapids)** **About Wilderness Union** Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community that connects you to the life-changing magic of the outdoors and helps you find your people. Members range from 20-40 years old. The group is a mix of GTA locals and newcomers to Toronto from within Canada and abroad. Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming! ***Learn more at our website [www.wildernessunion.com](https://www.wildernessunion.com/)***
