AU Food Distribution -- Volunteers Needed!

## Details [Atheists United](http://www.atheistsunited.org/), California's largest grassroots atheist nonprofit, hosts a food distribution in Los Angeles every month at our office building. We've partnered with the LA Food Bank and Sunday Assembly Los Angeles to give out over 4,000lbs of food each event. **We need volunteers to help us unload, sort, assemble, and give away grocery kits from 12pm - 5pm.** From 12pm - 3:30 we unload the truck, sort the food, and build the grocery kits. From 3:30pm - 5pm volunteers will help hand food out directly to those in need in the neighborhood. From 5pm - 6pm we'll clean up and celebrate everything we accomplished together at a local restaurant. Free snacks and drinks provided for all volunteers. If you'd like to be a super volunteer, contact us about showing up at 10am to help with early setup! **Food:** Snacks will be provided free for volunteers. We also usually buy lunch for everyone. After the event volunteers usually gather at a local restaurant to debrief. **Safety:** Safety vests, gloves, and masks are available for all volunteers. Volunteers are expected to be fully vaccinated. **Parking:** Free parking available for volunteers in our parking lot off Rampart Blvd. **Dress Code:** Safety requirements include: no open-toe/open-heel shoes or high heels. We recommend casual attire (jeans, t-shirt, light sweater, & tennis shoes). Please dress for the weather and wear sunscreen as needed. Songwriting & Studio Sessions - Read Description!

You'll collaborate, network, and walk out of each session with a demo of your own. Here, we work on music and create meaningful connections to artists across genres and skillsets. **We cannot accept those who come unannounced without a ticket unfortunately due to the space constraints.** The cost per person for the session (8 Hours) will be $35 hosted @ Pirate Studios w/ max 3-4 per room. The actual meetup will only last from 9AM - 12PM but you are free to stay and work after the fact until the time runs out. The goal is to create a track at the end of the session! Chess and Oware Club at Beverly Hills Le Pain Quotidien

Welcome! All levels of chess players can join whether you're a beginner or a grand master. We'll be at the big table in the middle of the restaurant. Some chess sets will be provided but feel free to bring your own equipment. Please RSVP with number of guests if you plan to attend. We play chess between 1:30 - 6:00PM. Parking is FREE on Sunday in the parking structures between Santa Monica Blvd and South Santa Monica Blvd. I look forward to seeing you all at Le Pain! Since early 2026 We've also been playing **Oware** as well and now I'm making it an official part of the club. We play the international tournament version with Abapa rules. It's very easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. So, if there are any Oware players out there, you are most welcome to attend. Feel free to bring your Oware sets if you have them. Here's some info about Oware from Google: Oware is estimated to be roughly **7,000 years old**, making it widely regarded as one of the oldest continuously played board games in human history. Oware is a famous two-player abstract strategy board game in the mancala family, originating from West Africa and widely considered the national game of Ghana. The board has 12 small pits (houses) with four seeds or beans in each, and the goal is to capture 25 or more seeds to win. **A special note to new members and first time attendees:** There are may times where it looks like the only person attending the meetup is the organizer. Don't let that throw you. We have a core group of regulars who show up every week but are allergic to RSVP-ing. Getting them to RSVP is like trying to declaw a feral cat! We also have members who are not part of meetup so they can't RSVP in the first place. When we *do* get RSVPs, you can pretty much double; sometimes even triple that number to estimate attendance. So, come check us out even when it looks like there's no one attending. Hope to see you there!

Weekly Board Game Hang

Welcome back to our weekly Wednesday board game hang (previously as Nightcap Collective)! These gatherings exist to help you meet new people while doing something fun. Come on by between 6:30-9:30 pm and play from our collection, or bring your own favorites. We are no longer charging a cover but PLEASE pitch in by buying food and/or a drink from our coffee bar so we can keep the lights on and hangs happening 🙏 All skill levels and board game interests welcome - whether you're a beginner or advanced, looking for intense strategy or short, lighthearted games. We've got plenty of tables to group up by interest, meet your neighbor, and have a good time.

Board Games at The Original Farmers’ Market!

🎲 Bring Your Own Board Game (optional) and jacket 🧥 (it gets chilly at night)! Come hang out, meet new people, and enjoy a chill game night on the second floor of The Farmers’ Market at The Grove. 🧋🍛✨ Whether you’re a serious board gamer or just here for the vibes, everyone is welcome! 💛 We’ll be using the outdoor tables on the second floor of the farmers market right next to the community room. There are several staircases you can use to get to the second floor. One of them is directly to the left of Figure 8 Tea Project. We’ll have some games available, but feel free to bring a favorite you’d like to share! ✨ Most importantly, bring positive energy and be respectful so everyone can have a fun and comfortable time together. ☺️🫶🏽 **Parking** at the Farmer’s Market is $56.00, so I don’t recommend parking there. There is some metered parking on Fairfax Ave and Third Street that is free after 8pm. There is also **free street parking** on N Hayworth Ave, S Hayworth Ave, and Oakwood Ave. From the grove just drive north up Fairfax Ave and make a left on Oakwood Ave. Make sure to read the signs. When the event is over we can carpool back to Oakwood Ave or walk together.
