Next Century Toastmasters Meetup

Want to develop your speaking skills? Join our one and a quarter hour meeting. We start with prepared speeches. Each speaker will then receive a 2-3 minute oral evaluation to help him or her understand what was done well in the speech and what areas offer opportunities for growth. The table topics section provides the opportunity to practice thinking on your feet and impromptu speaking for 1-2 minutes. Our meetings are always fun and guests are always welcome. You may bring lunch (take out is available on the "A" level from Trimana). Parking will not be validated (rates as of 09/27/16, $4.25 for each 12 minutes, maximum $34).

Ultimate Werewolf Comedy Show: Comedians vs. the Crowd

**ULTIMATE WEREWOLF COMEDY LEAGUE: COMEDIANS VS. THE CROWD** Come play—or watch—Werewolf, the social-deduction game similar to Mafia, reimagined as a live comedy tournament with professional comedians. **TICKETS** **$15 at the door** Discounted advance tickets are available through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ultimate-werewolf-comedy-show-tickets-1996182339112 Seating and onstage player spots are limited. Six professional comedians who have performed at venues including The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and the Laugh Factory will compete across three live games of Ultimate Werewolf alongside volunteers selected from the audience. A few players will secretly be assigned as werewolves. Everyone else must identify them before the werewolves eliminate the entire village. Expect bluffing, accusations, alliances, betrayals, ridiculous defenses, and extremely confident decisions based on almost no information. PLAY OR WATCH Want to play? We save several onstage game spots for audience members who want to come and compete against the comedians. Prefer to watch? That works too. Follow the mystery, root for your favorite players, and try to identify the werewolves from your seat. Audience participation is completely optional, and no previous Werewolf experience is required. The rules will be explained, and each game will be hosted so the action is easy and fun to follow. The comedians will earn points throughout the tournament. The top three will qualify to return for the next show, and the evening’s champion will close the night with a victory stand-up set. Chess and Oware Club at Beverly Hills Le Pain Quotidien

Welcome! All levels of chess players can join whether you're a beginner or a grand master. We'll be at the big table in the middle of the restaurant. Some chess sets will be provided but feel free to bring your own equipment. Please RSVP with number of guests if you plan to attend. We play chess between 1:30 - 6:00PM. Since early 2026 We've also been playing **Oware** as well and now I'm making it an official part of the club. We play the international tournament version with Abapa rules. It's very easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. So, if there are any Oware players out there, you are most welcome to attend. Feel free to bring your Oware sets if you have them. Here's some info about Oware from Google: Oware is estimated to be roughly **7,000 years old**, making it widely regarded as one of the oldest continuously played board games in human history. Oware is a famous two-player abstract strategy board game in the mancala family, originating from West Africa and widely considered the national game of Ghana. The board has 12 small pits (houses) with four seeds or beans in each, and the goal is to capture 25 or more seeds to win. **A special note to new members and first time attendees:** There are may times where it looks like the only person attending the meetup is the organizer. Don't let that throw you. We have a core group of regulars who show up every week but are allergic to RSVP-ing. Getting them to RSVP is like trying to declaw a feral cat! We also have members who are not part of meetup so they can't RSVP in the first place. When we *do* get RSVPs, you can pretty much double; sometimes even triple that number to estimate attendance. Let's go square dancing in North Hollywood! ($20-25) \- Live Band: Whole Hog \- Caller: Kristen Studard Never square danced? Don't worry... all dances are taught. Fun guaranteed! No partner necessary, this is social dancing :) Everyone willing to participate is welcome! Bring your friends -- the more the square-ier! Straight and LGBTQIA+ friendly. Pacific Opera Project has made it a habit of finding lost works. many the great comedic operas that have not been presented recently. Donizetti's ***Il fortunato inganno*** was only ever staged once. Not once in the United States. The usual suspects are here: a hapless opera company, a disguise, young lovers and their meddling guardians. But the beauty is all Donizetti's brilliant score. POP has chosen a 60s theme to go with the Garibaldina's setting. Tables ($35-75) will get Italian pasta and wine.
