SDNNYC: Jungle Tarot - A Workshop for Designers
Wed, Aug 5, 10:00 PM**Wednesday, August 5th, 6:00-8:00 PM EDT** **Presentation & Workshop** A Workshop on Speculative Change for Designers, Innovators, & Change Makers **Event Description** **What if tarot was a design method?** Organizations are full of signals we rarely talk about, power dynamics, unspoken assumptions, informal networks, and emotional undercurrents that shape how decisions get made. Jungle Tarot is a strategic reflection tool to help teams make sense of these hidden forces. Using storytelling, symbolism and speculative prompts, the deck invites participants to explore workplace challenges from new perspectives and spark conversations that traditional facilitation often misses. In this interactive session, we'll share the story behind Jungle Tarot's development and invite participants to experience this strategic facilitation tool through a guided collaborative reading. The workshop is designed for designers, strategists, facilitators, and leaders who are curious about alternative ways to unlock insight, navigate ambiguity, and create more meaningful conversations within organizations. No fortune telling, just curiosity and inspiration! **Links:** Instagram: [https://www.instagram.com/jungletrt/](https://www.instagram.com/jungletrt/) Website: [https://www.jungletarot.com/](https://www.jungletarot.com/) **About Our Speakers** **Jungle Tarot** Jungle Tarot is a strategic reflection tool created by four graduates of Parsons School of Design: Mini Mrinalini, Angel Luo, Utsav Vekariya, and Isa Meriales. Now working as strategists across design consulting, marketing, product development, and beyond, the team continues to explore how design can shape organizations and systems. Originally developed through an exploration of service design as a vehicle for democracy, the project examines how participation, power, and collective decision-making can be made more visible within organizations. Jungle Tarot reimagines the traditional tarot deck as a framework for strategic conversations, using symbolism, storytelling, and speculation to help teams surface hidden dynamics, challenge assumptions, and navigate complexity together. **Agenda** * 6:00-6:45PM Meet & mingle over food and drink * 6:45-7:30PM Presentation & Workshop * 7:30-8:00PM Discussion & Networking * 8:00PM - ?
**English** Enjoy French conversation in a relaxed atmosphere at a bar. “Conversation française à Brooklyn” is a French conversation group that takes place every other Friday evening. At a bar, café, or park near central Brooklyn and several subway lines, there will be a French speaking host (me) who can lead the conversation. The location may change from week to week, but wherever we are, you will be able to speak French and meet interesting people. The goal of this group is to give its participants (of all levels) the opportunity to practice French. In this group, we speak 100% in French (but don't be intimidated, we'll be there to help if you can't think of a word). If you're still learning, the recommended level to attend is weak intermediate or higher. If you can't follow the discussion, I'm happy to repeat anything or help you express some things that you might never have said in French before. The only way to improve is to practice! ***Donate to cover the costs of the group here: [https://www.venmo.com/u/brooklyn-meetup](https://www.venmo.com/u/brooklyn-meetup)***
