Women in Cloud - Governance, Security & Insights

Thu, Jul 2, 7:30 AM
From Women in Cloud Meetup Group
4.9

Join us for an evening of learning, networking, and knowledge sharing as we explore how organisations create secure, well-governed cloud environments. Our speakers will discuss practical approaches to identity governance, cloud security, and business-driven decision making, sharing real-world experiences and lessons learned along the way. Whether you're working in cloud, security, business analysis, or just keen to expand your knowledge, we'd love to see you there! **Topics:** **1\. Multi\-Cloud Identity Governance: Reducing Risk Through Ownership\, Lifecycle\, and Assurance** In this session, we will be exploring how managing identity and access becomes more complex in multi-cloud environments due to the rapid growth of identities, systems, and permission models, and how identity governance brings structure, visibility, and control through three key principles - ownership (clear accountability for identities and access), lifecycle (managing access from creation to timely removal), and assurance (continuously validating that access remains appropriate and secure) to help reduce risk, improve control, and enable secure, scalable operations across modern distributed environments. **About the speaker** [Amitha Shree](https://www.linkedin.com/in/amithashree/) is an Identity Governance Manager at nbn® Australia. **2\. Business Analysis with AWS Security Services: GuardDuty\, Security Hub and IAM Access Analyzer** Business analysis enables change within an organisation by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. When applied to AWS security, it ensures services are purposefully aligned to the organisation's risk appetite, strategic goals, and compliance obligations. It transforms Amazon GuardDuty from a threat detection tool into a quantifiable risk reduction investment, elevates AWS Security Hub from a technical dashboard into an executive-facing compliance reporting engine, and repositions IAM Access Analyzer from a policy scanner into a governance framework that protects against the most common causes of cloud breaches. Together, business analysis connects all three services into a coherent, measurable, and business-driven security strategy that enables organisations to make smarter, faster, and more confident decisions. **About the speaker** [Hazra Ali](https://www.linkedin.com/in/hazra-ali-a3777297/), a Business Analyst at WorkSafe Victoria, has more than 12 years of experience in Information Technology specialising in banking and finance sector in business analysis, software development, incident management and customer service. **Agenda:** **5:30pm** – Food and networking **6:00pm** – Presentation 1. Multi-Cloud Identity Governance: Reducing Risk Through Ownership, Lifecycle, and Assurance **6:40pm** – Presentation 2. Business Analysis with AWS Security Services: GuardDuty, Security Hub and IAM Access Analyzer **7:20pm** – Networking We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors [Confluent](https://www.confluent.io/), [Mantel](https://mantelgroup.com.au/) and [REA group](https://www.rea-group.com/) — for supporting our community and making this event possible. From Community Conversations
5.0

Community Conversations: Imagining Stronger Social Cohesion in Boroondara During the July session of Community Conversations, we will partner with the 'Bahá'i Creating an Inclusive Narrative' project to contribute to its ongoing learning about advancing social cohesion in Australia. Since its inception in 2019, the project has brought together hundreds of people through roundtable discussions exploring the "bigger story" of Australian identity - one that embraces the diverse voices, cultures and historical experiences of all Australians. We warmly invite you to join our Community Conversations gathering on 17 July 2026 and participate in a Boroondara focused roundtable discussion that will help shape a shared vision for fostering greater social cohesion within our community. The consultation process will be guided by principles of reciprocity, respect and purposeful consultation. With the current challenges facing our community there has never been a more important time to contribute to this conversation. Insights and perspectives shared during the roundtable will help inform the second edition of the Creating an Inclusive Narrative publication, which will be shared with government and civil society organisations. For more information about the Bahá'i Creating an Inclusive Narrative project: **Creating an Inclusive Narrative Project** (https://collections.humanitix.com/creating-an-inclusive-narrative-project#CollectionAbout-title) Register now to reserve your place. Community Conversations is a monthly initiative of the Boroondara Bahá'í community that brings people together to explore contemporary challenges, strengthen understanding, and foster meaningful connection. This is a free event and all are invited to attend. Please RSVP to attend: http://bit.ly/4vcpuwh

People: the missing line in the project plan

People: the missing line in the project plan

Thu, Jul 9, 7:30 AM
From Melbourne Business Agility Meetup
4.7

Some work is well suited to a project format. This 9th July, Florin Pintilie will share a project manager’s hard‑earned lessons from years of navigating real‑world delivery environments, with special focus on what makes or breaks a project: people. You'll learn where people have an outsized relationship to project success, and project failure. The opens a conversation about how to strengthen your awareness, leadership, and decision‑making around the people who ultimately determine whether a project thrives or collapses. You'll be invited to explore people‑driven project success, reflect on your own practices, and consider practical ways to elevate the human side of your professional world. About this month's presenter, Florin Pintilie. He has spent twenty-something years in the IT world, starting as a software developer and moving through an assortment of IT professional flavours (tech lead, business analyst, system analyst...) with the foremost focus on the bitter-sweet project management side of things. Florin is genuinely passionate about technology projects. Things move fast, the landscape keeps shifting, and he loves the constant challenge to adapt, learn, and innovate. Along the way, he's probably read more psychology books than project management books, because it turns out humans are tricky (and beautiful) creatures—and if you want to get a great project outcome and experience, you need to invest far more energy in understanding the people behind them. As he shares some of the lessons picked up over the years, the hope is to hallenge you to a dialogue that has us all walking away with some new ideas. More on Florin here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/florin-pintilie-11825272/ Thanks to TeamForm, our event sponsor for providing a great place to meet and refreshments. Look at teamform for visualising your delivery teaming structures whether they be persistent or project based, and for desigining and operating the workforce behind them - given the work, aligning the right roles today and into the future. https://teamform.co/

Let’s catch up over coffee and food and play with the Art of Conversation cards! For those new to the Art of Conversation cards, they serve as an invitation to more in depth and meaningful conversation. Often going deeper than small talk, but how deep you want to go is up to you. An example of some questions you’ll find on the cards includes: ⭐️ Who is a person from your past that taught you something you still use today? ⭐️ What is a belief you held five years ago that you disagree with now? ⭐️ You can go to the past or the future, which one would you choose and why? I like to keep the group small (about six people) to allow for genuine connection to emerge. See you there!

2xTalks: Why Logic Apps are Better, and P1 Incident Resolution with AI

2xTalks: Why Logic Apps are Better, and P1 Incident Resolution with AI

Tue, Jul 7, 7:30 AM
From Melb.NET Meetup
4.7

We are excited to host Andrew and Bill for our next Melb.NET event where we discuss how to resolve P1 incidents using AI, Context & Data the right way, and why Logic Apps and Azure Functions are awesome for integration workloads. **Agenda:** * 5:30pm arrival - Food and drinks provided in-person * 6pm kickoff - Welcome & Introduction and few words from our Sponsors - 10 min * 6:10pm - Session 1 * 6.45pm - Session 2 **Session 1:** P1 Incident Resolution with AI, Context & Data by [Andrew Rickard](https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-rickard-2600594/) A real client. A real P1 incident. A production issue that needed answers fast. This session tells the story of how a critical incident was investigated and resolved using an AI-assisted approach grounded in the right context, relevant system knowledge and raw operational data. We’ll explore what worked, what mattered, and why AI was useful not because it “knew the answer”, but because it helped connect the dots across logs, system behaviour, client context and engineering judgement. **Session 2:** Why Azure Logic Apps are Better for Integration Workloads by [Bill Chesnut](https://www.linkedin.com/in/billchesnut/) Bill's talk will detail how features of Azure Logic Apps make them the best choice for Integration workloads. As we all know, integration workload tends to be the most volatile because we typically control only the source or the destination, not both. We will look at the Design, Development, Deployment, and Support aspects of Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions to determine how they fit with integration workload. **Hosts:** * [William Liebenberg](https://www.linkedin.com/in/william-liebenberg/) \- Microsoft \.NET MVP \| Consultant at Arinco * [Bron Thulke](https://www.linkedin.com/in/bronthulke/) \- Microsoft \.NET MVP \| CTO / Co\-Founder at YouLi * [Bill Chesnut](https://www.linkedin.com/in/billchesnut/) \- Microsoft Azure MVP \| Consultant at SixPivot **Sponsors:** We have some amazing sponsors that help make this event possible: * [Arinco](https://arinco.com.au/) \- Venue\, Food and Drinks **Location:** In-Person at Arinco Melbourne.
