Take the train to LA: Urban Hike in Pasadena

Part of Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena will be closed to traffic on Sunday, November 15, 2026 from 9AM to 3PM, so people can ride bikes on the streets. With no cars, it's the perfect time to walk Colorado Boulevard (no more than 5 miles roundtrip) and do some extra sightseeing. The Best of France & Italy ([http://www.franceanditaly.com](http://www.franceanditaly.com)) is a great little gathering of autos specializing in European transportation & vehicles. It's held at Woodley Park in Lake Balboa, which hosts numerous events throughout the year, like car exhibits, carnivals, and even dog shows. The only fee is to enter a vehicle for judging at the event (probably none of us). However, attending, walking around the park, and looking at the cars is totally free. It should be a blast, and the price is right—Citroëns and Alfa Romeos as far as the eye can see! **Brief Ride Description:** This ride will take us all on a tour of several neighborhoods in and around the Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Beverly Glen, Bel Air, and Encino. We'll end up at the show and swap meet. Along the route, we will surely see many of the largest and most amazing homes in our area and witness some of the best views to be had in the middle of Los Angeles; vistas from the Westside to Downtown, as well as the San Fernando Valley. Itinerary: (\*MEETUP IS EARLIER TO TRY AND ARRIVE AT EVENT AROUND NOON\*) We will meet up in Valley Village at Gelson's at 8:30 a.m. Gather and chat, allowing time for stragglers to arrive. If you would like to grab a coffee or snack from the coffee shop in that shopping center or something from Gelson's, please be sure to arrive with ample time to do so. Then we will do the pre-ride chat at around 9:00 a.m., with the approximate departure from Gelson's at 9:15 a.m. Route Description: PLEASE ARRIVE WITH ENOUGH FUEL FOR THE RIDE, NO GAS STOP!!! (\~30-35 miles) We'll head up Laurel Canyon to Mulholland and over past the Hollywood sign, then back to Mulholland and over to Coldwater Canyon. We will make a quick stop for a stretch at the Virginia Robinson Garden, then we will get back on the road. After the stretch stop at the Garden, we'll head back north via Beverly Glen for a quick jaunt along Mulholland, cross the bridge over the 405, head down Hayvenhurst to Burbank Boulevard, then over to Woodley Ave and the north end of Woodley Park for the Event. *Tentative Route: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/VhBCt9CSW5t7kNVv5](https://maps.app.goo.gl/VhBCt9CSW5t7kNVv5)* DIFFICULTY AND RESTRICTIONS: Due to posted speeds in some sections and the many hill climbs, this ride is suitable for intermediate and advanced scooter riders with no minimum engine size... ALL SCOOTERS WELCOME. Please note that the route includes difficult terrain, sharp curves, and occasional road hazards. We'll keep the pace brisk but fairly easygoing, though, and make stops when sensible and necessary. This is a more scenic, enjoyable cruise, but it's not suitable for beginners. Experience in canyons and riding Mulholland Drive is recommended. Please do not ride with a passenger unless you have the experience and equipment to do so. While we will be riding in the daylight, there may be temperature changes along the route in the canyons. Our rides range from leisurely social outings to challenging, high-intensity adventures and we welcome guests on all our rides. The **Black Folk™ RoadRunners Bike Group** meet every 1st Saturday morning for rides of varying difficulty, starting from various locations in and around the Los Angeles area. We also administer and record Century Challenge rides, where cyclists can test themselves on 100-mile routes. Many of our rides take place on roads and trails less traveled and our calendar also contains special rides and events, highlighted by our signature ride, *The Black Tour*, in late February. This fully supported 24-hour event includes options for Double Century, Triple, and Quad rides. Throughout the year, we challenge cyclists with other featured rides, and our social events help us replenish the calories we burn while riding. **Attendance is limited and registration is required. One dog per handler/one dog per registration will be strictly enforced. If you are unable to attend the pack walk, kindly cancel your reservation ASAP to give others enough time to RSVP.** **Make note of the new meeting location and please read the entire \*\*updated\*\* event description before you RSVP. All breeds welcome!** Expect to maintain tight proximity as we share the pedestrian lane of the bikeway with moderate traffic, including runners, children, strollers, and other dog walkers. Other distractions in the adjacent bike lanes will include passing fast-moving bikes, scooters, and skateboards. **REQUIREMENTS:** Participants must submit a member form and participant release of liability each year. **[Click here to submit one](https://forms.gle/GzcftLq1MyLZpSG87)**. If you don't recall completing one this year, complete one now. **RULES:** ***First rule of our pack walks is to BE SAFE so that everyone has fun!*** All participants must comply to ALL guidelines below or will be asked to leave the event. 1. Participants limited. **RSVP is required to hold a spot.** As soon as you know you cannot attend, cancel your reservation. We understand last-minute changes take place; however, if you don't show up more than two times you will be placed on the wait list for future events. 2. If you feel even slightly ill (including a headache, sniffles, minor fever or even an allergy), do not attend this event. Stay home for your health and safety of others. Remember to cancel your reservation. 3. Maintain a 6 foot distance from other participants not in your household. 4. Face mask/shield is optional. Please maintain a 6' distance from anyone choosing to wear a mask. **MEETING LOCATION:** Gather in the dirt area by the end of the railroad tracks on the east side of Mariposa St., just across the east end of the Chandler Bikeway. **PARKING:** Residential street parking on Mariposa St., Chandler Blvd, and the surrounding neighborhood. **WHAT TO BRING:** Water for you and your dog. We will do some mental exercises, so bring treats (or your dog’s dinner), or a toy for rewarding them. The path is well lit, but consider bringing lights as it will be dark by the end of our walk. **PACK WALK DISTANCE:** About 1.5 miles **TRAIL:** Paved street. **DIFFICULTY:** Easy **DISTRACTION LEVEL:** Medium - High: There may be periods of high traffic where we will need to share the road with oncoming and passing users of the pedestrian lane. There will also be bikes, scooters, roller skaters, skateboards, etc. passing in close proximity at higher speed, in their own dedicated lane. For nearly all of the route, there is plenty of room to step off the paved path in case you need to create extra buffer space. **LARPBO PACK WALK GUIDELINES:** #1 All dogs must be on a secure collar and leash. Dogs using e-collars must also be on a leash. Prong collars should be backed up with a carabiner. Short leashes are recommended (less than 6 feet). Retractable leashes and harnesses are not allowed as they provide little control. #2 PLEASE NO NOSE TO NOSE CONTACT (dog to dog that is). Always maintain a six-foot distance between dogs. There should be no dog-on-dog interaction. #3 Please bring doggie poo bags. #4 Make sure you bring water for you and your dog. #5 One dog per handler. No exceptions! #6 Share the road. Move to the right to let others pass. \*All breeds welcome. * There will be foot traffic, critters, and several other dogs.
