Does the idea of going on safari make your heart do little goat kicks? Do you have a lower back tattoo that says “Hakuna Matata?” When you have the rare opportunity to spin a globe, is there ONE continent that you run your fingers over every damn time? *We made this trip of a lifetime just for you, Explorer Chick.* This 10-day women-only South African safari is a bucket list adventure with an obscene amount of relaxation and adrenaline. There will be kayaking with penguins. Cage diving with sharks. Multiple wine tastings (including a women-owned vineyard!). Poolside lounging in the bush. Two in-country flights in and out of the Kruger National Park region. THREE FULL SAFARI DAYS to see lions, elephants, and leopards. A scenic hike up and cable ride down Table Mountain. A photo opp stop in Cape Town’s most colorful neighborhood. And a soul-bursting tour of Nelson Mandela’s home turf. Best of all––you get to see each golden sunrise and fiery sunset with a badass bus of women who love to travel just as much as you. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll never want to leave. Your goosebumps will get goosebumps as every meal, logistic, and pee break is planned by someone who isn’t you. Order the most cargo pocket-y safari pants and bring your birding binoculars. You’re gonna experience a lifetime of feelings. Because time hits different when you spend it in Africa with your new besties. **See the website for full itinerary, details and to book.** [https://explorerchick.com/trip/south-africa-safari-adventure-for-women/](https://explorerchick.com/trip/south-africa-safari-adventure-for-women/) **Say Hello 👋** **💻** Website: [https://explorerchick.com/](https://explorerchick.com/) 📧 Email: hello@explorerchick.com 📸 Instagram: [https://www.instagram.com/explorerchickadventureco/](https://www.instagram.com/explorerchickadventureco/) ❤️ Facebook: [https://www.facebook.com/ExplorerChickAdventureCo/](https://www.facebook.com/ExplorerChickAdventureCo/) 👯‍♀️ Facebook Group: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/weareexplorerchick](https://www.facebook.com/groups/weareexplorerchick) 🎥 TikTok: [https://www.tiktok.com/@explorerchick](https://www.tiktok.com/@explorerchick)

Croatia Hiking National Parks and Multisport Adventure Tour

Croatia Hiking National Parks and Multisport Adventure Tour

Sun, Sep 6, 2:00 PM
From Explorer Chicks of San Francisco
4.8

Get ready to have your mind blown multiple times over turquoise waters, frothing waterfalls, badass mountain summits, and medieval towns. Croatia will turn anyone into an annoying romantic. Book your week-long women’s multi-sport adventure tour featuring hiking, e-biking, mountain-summiting, sea kayaking, snorkeling, and plenty of Adriatic Sea swimming. You’ll explore ancient cities tripping through architectural history from ancient Roman, Venetian Gothic, Romanesque, and Medieval. Cycle through stupid-pretty Istrian Peninsula hilltop towns. Bust your booties through Plitvice Lakes and Paklenica National Parks. Climb a freaking Via Ferrata to summit Bojin Kuk. And float through the 80+ islands that make up Kornati National Park. BRB we need to pick our jaw up from off the ground. **EXPLORE ZAGREB, CROATIA’S CAPITAL CITY** You and your Explorer Chick entourage will geek over all the architecture porn – from medieval stone gates to Gothic cathedrals. We’ll visit all the “musts” and gather for a welcome dinner in the Old Town. Did you just change your Insta handle to Croatia_Cutie? We are obsessed with you! **E-BIKES, WINE, AND TRUFFLES IN THE ISTRIAN COUNTRYSIDE** What could be better than seeing tiny cutie towns? TASTING the wares of those tiny cutie towns! We’ll cruise the Parenzana trail on our E-Bikes, stopping in Grožnjan, Oprtalj, and Motovun for coffee, olive oil tastings, and a spectacular lunch. By evening, we’ll cycle to the top of Motovun for a stunning gargoyle view of the Adriatic cities. You won’t leave Istria without loading your bike down with bottles of wine and a tummy full of truffles. **HIKE PLITVICE LAKES AND PAKLENICA NATIONAL PARKS** You’re gonna see the kind of natural beauty that shows up in the screensavers of Apple products. The Instagram world is stark raving mad over Plitvice Lakes because of its unique system of lakes and waterfalls. A rock climbing and hiking paradise awaits you in Paklenica National Park with views of the Adriatic Sea from your very own mountain summit. **KORNATI NATIONAL PARK SPEED-BOAT AND SPLIT SEA-KAYAKS** The best views of this gorgeous region are often gleaned from the sea. Across two days, we’ll explore the island systems via speedboat and sea-kayak, leaving plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling, and floating otter-style on your back. You are basically a mermaid now and have to deal with mermaid things like schools of fish, coral spottings and island lunches. You poor thing. **Adventure Highlights:** * E-Bike through Croatia’s “Tuscany” tasting Wine, Olive Oil, and Truffles along the way * Discover charming hilltop medieval towns on the Istria Peninsula * Truffle Hunt with a local in the forests of Motovun * Hike the lower and upper falls of the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park * Soak in sunsets over the Adriatic from beautiful viewpoints * Climb a Via Ferrata to the summit of Bojin Kuk in Paklenica National Park * Enjoy the background music of Zadar’s Sea Organ at sunset * Explore Kornati National Park by speedboat with swimming, snorkeling, and a seafood lunch * Sea Kayak to a secluded beach off Split with more swimming, snorkeling, and cliff jumping * Get lost in the narrow streets of Split while enjoying a cone of gelato or a glass of wine * Kick back in 3-4 Star boutique hotels throughout your adventure with fabulous views that pair well with a cocktail * Relax with a comprehensive itinerary that makes everything in-between easy. * Geek out with encouraging and supportive Explorer Chicks on a private, women-only, small group adventure tour. **See the website for full details and to book.** [https://explorerchick.com/adventures/womens-croatia-hiking-national-parks-and-multisport-adventure-tour/](https://explorerchick.com/adventures/womens-croatia-hiking-national-parks-and-multisport-adventure-tour/) **Say Hello 👋** 💻 Website: [https://explorerchick.com/](https://explorerchick.com/) 📧 Email: [hello@explorerchick.com](http://hello@explorerchick.com/) 📸 Instagram: [https://www.instagram.com/explorerchickadventureco/](https://www.instagram.com/explorerchickadventureco/) ❤️ Facebook: [https://www.facebook.com/ExplorerChickAdventureCo/](https://www.facebook.com/ExplorerChickAdventureCo/) 👯‍♀️ Facebook Group: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/weareexplorerchick](https://www.facebook.com/groups/weareexplorerchick) 🎥 TikTok: [https://www.tiktok.com/@explorerchick](https://www.tiktok.com/@explorerchick)

Meetup on Orient Express - Visit Paris Venice Prague Vienna Budapest Istanbul

Meetup on Orient Express - Visit Paris Venice Prague Vienna Budapest Istanbul

The Orient Express. . . you heard about it many times. The romance, the mystery, the adventure! Of course - the opulence too! ***While the original Orient Express train is now part of history, our journey revives its spirit—crossing Europe from Paris to Istanbul, echoing the legendary route that once defined luxury rail travel.*** This experience brings back the magic of the rails—without the inflated cost of old-world extravagance. Instead, we focus on service, comfort, and contemporary refinement, blending iconic train travel with thoughtfully curated experiences. We retrace the route of the original Orient Express using a mix of **modern night trains, high-speed day trains, and select short flights**, creating a seamless and unforgettable journey. Our route takes us to: Paris → Venice → Vienna → Prague → Budapest → Istanbul Included: * Train transportation between 4 cities. * 2 nights on an actual night train with sleeping compartment * Air transportation Paris / Venice and Budapest / Istanbul * 11 nights in First Class hotels with best central locations * Daily breakfast + select lunches and dinners * All transfers (hotels, train stations, airports) * Guided tours in every city * Entrances to many museums. * And more thoughtful touches throughout the journey We travel as a group, and also have the flexibility of hop-on, hop-off tours and museum passes with "skip the line" so you can enjoy complete independence. The trip is designed for curious, like-minded travelers who value both freedom and shared experiences. It is all included in the price! You are free to do your own thing, cater to your special interests, visit other sights and locations in the cities, while still being guided and helped with all the arrangements. A balance of independence when you want it and being included in all group activities when you prefer it. The idea is: come alone, meet new like-minded people and make lifelong memories . . . without being stuck with the "one size fits all" tour formula. Here is a basic thumbnail: · **Paris – 3 nights** Evening flight to Venice · **Venice – 1 night** Night train to Vienna · **Vienna – 1 night** Evening train to Prague · **Prague – 2 nights** Night train to Budapest · **Budapest – 1 night** Evening flight to Istanbul · **Istanbul – 3 nights**. Sleeper Cabins on the trains and First Class centrally located hotels in each city. ***What was The Orient Express?*** *It was long-distance passenger train service that began in 1883 with the original endpoints being Paris to Istanbul. The original name became synonymous with intrigue and was a showcase of luxury with comfort at a time when traveling was still rough and dangerous.* *In Istanbul the Pera Palace Hotel, built in 1892, was the accommodation at the terminus. And we are staying in it!* ***The original Orient Express ceased operation in 1977 and we are not using the original old train. It no longer exists.*** EVERY aspect of this trip is epic. * Visit picturesque and storied cities. * Enjoy trains and experience the enchantment of the rails. * In the end you will have visited 6 countries: France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey! **The tour starts in Paris on Sep 20 and ends in Istanbul on Oct 03.** ***$5490 total cost per person, double occupancy.*** ***$7090 total cost for solo occupancy.*** PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE AIRFARE. This allows for your flexibility and convenience. We are happy to give you an airfare quote. **To attend: $500 deposit. A Friday In The Canyon

A Friday In The Canyon

Fri, Aug 28, 10:00 PM
From Roaming Zen
4.9

Glen Canyon is a unique feature in the city - a peaceful oasis - and we haven't spent much time there recently, even though we often start roams from Glen Park. This Friday roam will take us from the south of the canyon to the north alongside Islais Creek, and back along the side of the hill. If we get lucky we might see a pair of coyotes as we did last time we were up on the slopes. In any case, we will sit on the rocks overlooking the creek valley. We will also have time to visit a couple of the famous dirt roads in the village. There will be a couple of climbs and plenty of dirt on the way round. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time. Please send a message on the app before the start if you are running late, and we will either wait (up to ten minutes) of I will direct you on how to catch up. Once we get underway I have to focus on those who are there, and most likely won't respond.* *Generally half the people who sign up don't actually show up on the day. I do track flakiness and remove people who have a poor attendance record. It is discourteous to those on the waitlist who would like to attend.* *Sending me a message explaining that you can't make it is always appreciated.*

Roaming Mission Creek and the Design District

Roaming Mission Creek and the Design District

*My scheduled trip to Tassajara next week has been cancelled due to smoke in the valley from the Timber fire in Big Sur, so I am adding a roam to the schedule.* After our roam south of Market, this will be another very flat and gentle roam through the industrial area served by Mission Creek. There is a lot of history here, albeit mostly covered up by landfill, and the rail tracks that used to fill the area are mostly gone, even though we can see the traces once we start looking. I have long wanted to wander round the elegant warehouses of the Design District, and thought to combine it with a walk along both banks of the creek, whose original estuary shaped this whole part of the city. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time.
