They like board games; we like board games... it's a match made in heaven! WHAT TYPE OF GAMES ARE PLAYED? All types. Real short bluffing games decorated with skulls and flowers. Cooperative games fighting horrible diseases. Classic euro games where you haggle over sheep and wheat. Whether you want to fight unspeakable horrors in Arkham or build railroads across America or rebuild your farm after the black plague (more fun than it sounds) you can probably find a game you would like. Some games you might see are 7 Wonders, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Dominion, Dixit, Puerto Rico, Eldritch Horror, Ticket to Ride, Carcasonne among many others. You're also welcome to bring any game you want to play! I DON'T KNOW THESE GAMES? IS IT COOL IF I COME? We're very friendly and if you have no idea what the hell we're talking about just trust us when we say it's ton of fun. We'll have tons of games and we're very happy to show you the rules. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am excited to announce our newest closed-door HAT Format TOURNAMENT! Hat Format, also known as NAWCQ 2014 features the booster sets Dragons of Legend and Primal Origins as the last official releases. It is widely considered to be one of the most diverse formats in Yugioh’s history with over 30 viable decks. The format is truly one that is based on skill. There are strong decks, but the ultimate winner is the one who will outplay their opponent. This tournament is for CLUB MEMBERS ONLY and your price of entry is an official HAT-legal deck that you own. You will all be vying to win one or more of my 4 Judge Mats (pictured above). Please note the following: No guests are allowed entry to this tournament, with the exception of regular guests who have attended more than 5 Meetups in the past 3 months and have been approved by the TO of the event. Guests of Members are more than welcome to watch. Tournament will start promptly at 3pm to leave time for 4 rounds of Swiss and a cut to top 4! BANLIST: Please note the Hat format Banlist can be found here: https://www.hatformat.com/banlist.html Please make sure your deck has no non-conforming cards. Review the banlist. If the card came out after the Realm of Light structure deck, it is BANNED. I will be more lenient, first strike is a WARNING, and the card will be set aside. You will not receive a replacement draw and will LOSE that card. The second strike is a GAME LOSS. Number 106: Giant Hand is BANNED. These cards were prize cards owned by only a few players and therefore were NOT widely played. There is only one exception to this rule: you own a YCSW (Yugioh Championship Series) print of this card. If you truly go that far out of your way to acquire one, I will let you run it. The tournament will be run in Master Rule 2. The rules are below: RULES: First Turn Draw. One Field Spell active at a time. If a new Field Spell is activated while one exists on board, the existing Field Spell is destroyed without starting a chain. Activating a Field Spell starts a chain. If MST is chained to the newly activated Field Spell, the existing Field Spell stays. A Field Spell set does not destroy an existing Field Spell Matches are 40 Minutes, but I might make them 50 minutes depending on player preference. NO EXTRA MONSTER ZONE Extra deck may contain Fusions, Synchros, XYZ only! Tournaments will be Swiss Rounds followed by a Single Elimination Top Cut, likely to 4 players. Finals will be best 2 of 3 or 3 of 5, depending on the finalists’ preference. Please note that there will be some new stuff for those who did not make Top Cut to get into (if interested). I’ll be putting up some more awesome Judge Prizing for all interested in participating! MASTER RULE 2 END OF MATCH PROCEDURE: I do not like Time Rules, so I prefer to have matches play out. It will be my decision on a case-by-case basis whether to institute End of Match procedure. I will give a buffer of time before we move to EOM so players will be made aware before it happens. Contrary to Advanced Format, matches are 40 minutes. When time is called, the rules will progress as follows: Current player completes turn: Play continues for an additional 5 turns. Highest life points WINS If life points are equal, the duel is a DRAW If game wins are equal, the match is a DRAW A duel begins only when a hand is drawn, not after Side-Decking or presenting your deck. Players may not intentionally DRAW

Duelists, prepare for battle! NYCYDC presents its own monthly competitive Swiss tournament to give members a feel of what it’s like to partake in locals, Regionals and even YCS! These tournaments are far from casual as duelists will bring their very best and strongest decks to compete. A test of skills and wit, expect a tough competition. These monthly tournaments will follow advanced format rules such as 50 minute matches and double loss time rules. Official tournament start time will be 3:30pm. Arrive early to prepare! Rules: 1. As per tournament rules, you must play 1 deck from start to finish. Switching decks will result in a penalty such as a game loss. Failure to comply will result in a disqualification from the tournament. 2. Arrive on time and be ready for your match! If you are not present for the first 5 minutes of your match you will receive a game loss. After 10 minutes you will receive a match loss. Time is sacred! 3. Sportsmanship and respect is mandatory. If we receive complaints of disrespect and misconduct you will receive a warning. A second offense will result in a disqualification. 4. There will be judge(s) present. Any conflict at during a match or question must be resolved with a judge. 5. Double loss will be applied. If a match winner has not been decided and declared by the end of the timer, both players will receive a double loss. 6. Slow play of any kind will not be tolerated. If you believe your opponent is slow playing, don’t hesitate! Call the judge! A judge will deal with the matter at hand. 7. Focus on your match! No devices should be present unless it’s to count LP! Don’t distract other duelists from their match as well. 8. No backseat dueling or request for assistance! Learn your deck and play on your own! If we catch you asking for advice you will receive a warning. The most important rule of any tournament is to have fun! IMPORTANT: Respect your RSVP! You must RSVP in order to participate. If you show up you’re expected to participate as a player.

Setting up weekly afternoons of games at the Crowne Plaza (50 Kenny Pl.) in Saddle Brook at 2.30pm. Everyone is welcome whether you’re a casual player, an avid player or simply want to start learning something new. We teach, we learn, we play. Is this group for me?** Hi! Welcome to board gaming! Yes, it is. To make sure you have a great experience, please show up on time, before games get decided, and introduce yourself, telling people you’re new to gaming and what games you know and like. We were all new to gaming once, too. While most games we play are medium-to-heavy weight games, light games appear every week, so there's probably something for you. If you’re willing to stretch a bit and learn a more complex game, that’s great, as someone will almost always know how to teach it. To find out if players are willing to teach a game they’re about to start, just ask. Some experience with games like Azul, Catan, Splendor, Century Spice Road, 7 Wonders, Sagrada, etc., is helpful, but not essential. **What if I am on the waiting list?** It is rare that people on the waiting don't get seats, but it can happen. So you could just take a chance and show up. If you do show up, 1) ask employees up front if you can wait to pay (they're typically cool about that, but no promises here /shrug) and 2) come check in with us in the back. Seats for confirmed guests are held until 5:15, after which they're considered a no-show. (Unless they contact us first, or had something like an awful train ride.) Then seats are first-come first served. **Will someone teach me games if I don’t know them?** Often, yes - you just have to ask. But planning ahead can be helpful too, because that’ll give you a chance to read the rules before you come. **What do you mean by mid- and heavy-weight board games?** Some examples: Hansa Teutonica, Concordia, Keyflower, Great Western Trail, Clank!, Root, Small World, Scythe, Dinosaur Island, Terraforming Mars, Trickerion: Legends of Illusion, Kemet, Arcs, Underwater Cities, Food Chain Magnate, Indonesia, A Feast for Odin, Archipelago, Detective: City of Angels, and Tzolk'in. **Can we play *X*?** Sure! Suggest it. Make sure someone has a playable copy (you or the store), either you or someone else knows and can teach the game, and others agree to play. Games that take an exceedingly long time (4+ hours) probably won’t get picked up.
