Building Demand Forecasting with BigQuery ML

Building Demand Forecasting with BigQuery ML

Sat, Jul 25, 9:00 PM
From Techies
4.7

As businesses strive to stay ahead of market trends, predicting future demand is no longer optional, it's a competitive necessity. This hands-on workshop addresses the practical challenges of processing massive datasets and building predictive models. You will implement a time-series forecasting strategy using **BigQuery Machine Learning** to analyze historical patterns and predict future demand. Using the public NYC Citi Bike Trips dataset as our sandbox, you will learn how to: * **Explore and query** large-scale public datasets directly in BigQuery. * **Train a forecasting model** using the powerful ARIMA algorithm to handle parallel multi-item pipelines. * **Evaluate model performance** using key statistical metrics like AIC to ensure accuracy. * **Generate batch predictions** for the next 30 days of demand. Join us to learn how to combine SQL-based machine learning with deterministic data analytics to make your applications smarter, predictive, and data-driven. **Bring your laptop and be ready to build! Meditation & Discussion: Finding Balance and Moderation

Meditation & Discussion: Finding Balance and Moderation

Sun, Jul 19, 5:30 PM
From Vita Lumina Collective
4.9

This is the 5th of a 6-part series on developing important character strengths, including: wisdom, courage, love, justice, temperance, and transcendence. Based on the principles of Positive Psychology and many spiritual traditions, cultivating these character strengths can lead to a more fulfilling life. This event is based on Tristan's personal mastery approach, where we learn to make friends with our mind to cultivate personal growth and inner peace. We explore the intersections of Buddhism, Stoicism, modern Psychology, and other approaches towards this goal. Our practices generally include some of the following: * Meditation * Mindfulness * Metta (Loving-kindness) * Breathwork * Sound bath * Journaling No experience with these practices is necessary. Beginners are welcome! Even those of us who have been practicing for years are still learning, and we have so much to learn from each other. As they say in Zen, we must maintain a "beginners mind." Our discussions are open to a variety of spiritual and scientific approaches to wellbeing, contentment, and enlightenment. We want to hear your ideas, but there's no pressure to speak in the group. If you prefer to just sit and listen, that's great! Whether you are seeking to find inner peace, or simply a space to connect with like-minded individuals, we invite you to join us on this journey. **Cost:** There is no cost to attend, but contributions are appreciated through Venmo @VitaLuminaCo. Please do not feel any pressure to contribute if you are unable. Your presence is enough! **To bring**: * Blanket, cushion, and/or chair * Water bottle * You may also want a hat and/or sunglasses * Journal & pen/pencil (optional) * Food and/or beverages to share (optional) **Location:** Silver Lake grassy patch, next to Silver Lake Rec Center (South of the lake): https://maps.app.goo.gl/RyPio7rJRPcT2nmb7 NOTE: This is NOT the meadow, which is further north. **Parking:** There should be street parking available. Tristan is a pre-licensed therapist, meditation teacher, business lawyer, and author.
