Olga Bokova @ Deutsche Bank:** ***Testing the Nanoseconds: A Decade of High-Frequency Trading QA Evolution*** High-frequency trading systems operate at the edge of technology, where latency is measured in nanoseconds and every delay can translate directly into financial impact. In this environment, traditional QA approaches quickly break down, e.g. functional correctness alone is no longer enough. In this talk, Olga will share a real-world journey of how QA evolved over the past decade within high-performance trading systems. We’ll explore the challenges of testing ultra-low latency platforms, handling massive market data streams, and ensuring deterministic behaviour in highly distributed environments. Olga will walk us through how fragmented testing approaches led to inefficiency, duplication, and scalability issues, and how they transitioned toward a unified, domain-level testing framework built around simulation and controlled environments. You’ll learn how treating testing infrastructure as an engineering product helped us reduce complexity, increase reliability, and enable performance testing at realistic market scale. Along the way, Olga will share practical lessons, trade-offs, and what they chose to abandon (not just what we built). **2\. Neha\-B Yadav @ Deutsche Bank: *Secure AI, Smarter Testing: How QA Teams Can Shift Left Efficiently*** Now as ever, staying effective and efficient requires more than just strong testing fundamentals, but also intelligent orchestration of tools, data, and automation. Neha will focus in this talk on three key dimensions: how to stay effective with the help of AI-driven test workflows, how to remain relevant with modern engineering practices and enterprise tooling, and how to continuously upskill in an ecosystem of automation, AI agents, and integrated test platforms. Neha will share her approach with shifting testing left, proactive defect prevention, early test design, and proper continuous integration. The session will highlight techniques such as test-driven development, early collaboration between QA and engineering, and integrating validation into CI/CD pipelines to reduce downstream risks. **3\. Vitaly Sharovatov @ Qase: Leading Cost\-Cutting Initiatives by Improving Quality** More and more companies are cutting costs and doing layoffs, and QA is often among the first to be cut. Yet it is precisely QA folks who can help cut costs while improving quality. In this talk, Vitaly suggests ways we all can lead cost cutting discussions to make things right and either reduce or prevent layoffs. Partner with Customer Support to identify which escaped defects cost the most in ticket handling and escalations. Partner with Sales to identify which bugs put renewals and expansions at risk. Add Finance for SLA credits and refunds, and Engineering for incident response and hotfix effort. Add it all up, and you get external failure costs. After that, quantify internal failure costs like rework, retesting, queues, and waste. We will turn these numbers into a cost cutting proposal that managers understand: reduce the priciest external failure costs first, then reduce internal failure costs, by improving the way we build quality in. You will leave with a simple template for collecting the numbers with other departments, doing the calculations, and proposing specific process changes. Let's be the people who cut failure costs, not the people who get cut!

We love to BBQ, Alex specifically, and are looking forward to seeing your happy, hungry faces at Mauerpark on July 11th. We will be in the grilling area and should be relatively easy to find. You will learn how to set up both a Sony FX6 cinema camera, as well as a Sony mirrorless camera. You will attach accessories you would normally find on a film set to make these cameras ready for shooting. You will also learn how to break down, prepare for, and shoot a simple, pre-scripted scene with all participants getting to perform the different camera department roles. If you’re looking to advance your camerawork knowledge this workshop will help you take a few big steps down that road. This workshop is for beginners, however a basic understanding of camera basics such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO are extremely helpful. This will allow me to focus more on the filmmaking aspects of camerawork and be able to quickly go over the very basics and get more in-depth. The workshop will be taught in English and will be limited to 12 participants to give everyone the opportunity to have as much hands on time as possible. **Camerawork in Practice** Everyone in the class will get the opportunity to set up both cameras, use all the accessories, such as the follow focus, and shoot part of the scene. As we do this, we will rotate through the different roles, with everyone working diligently, as it would be on a film set. We will put our plan into action and tell our story as well as possible. **Camerwork Theory** While this is a very hands-on workshop, I feel that learning camerawork techniques and theory is also extremely important. The camera and accessories are tools which you learn so that you can get better at the creative aspects of filmmaking. In the theory section we will go over framing and composition, how to move the camera, and how to tell a story visually. I will also show you the basics of how to break down a scene. We will look at the tools which help different departments collaborate effectively and also help a set run efficiently. Shot lists, storyboards, and the production schedule are some of the tools that can break a script down into the individual shots that best tell our story and let everyone know what needs to be done and when. We will create our own shot list and schedule and plan our own shoot based on the already written script. We will then shoot that script as a lean, mean, filmmaking team. **Schedule** **Day 1:** Saturday, July 18th – 09:00 – 16:00 * **Brief overview of Exposure triangle and shutter speed for film** * Aperture, shutter speed, ISO * Exposing for film – Don’t use your histogram * High speed shutter * Pushing shutter speed for effect or to gain light * **Exposure tools** * False color, Waveform, Histogram, Zebras * Protecting your highlights * Exposing your subject correctly – skin tones * Light meters & lighting ratios with demonstration * Maintaining consistency between shots * **Codecs and bit depth** * Raw, Log, compressed codecs * Picture profiles and LUT’s * Bit depth briefly explained * Dynamic range explained * **Camerawork theory** * Different shot sizes and what they mean * Camera Level – low, high, eye level and their impact * Camera motion – pan, tilt, dolly when to use them * 180 degree rule and eye lines * Breaking down a scene * **Building up a cinema camera package for a shoot** * Build up the Sony a7RII and Sony FX6 – cinema lenses, follow focus, focus monitor, and video village monitor. * Learn the what, how, and why behind all the different parts * Camera settings overview for both cameras. * **Q&A & Review** **Day 2:** Sunday, July 19th – 09:00 – 16:00 * **Test of knowledge from Day 1 & Q&A** * **Scene break down** * Breaking down the scene we will be shooting * Shot list, storyboard analysis, lighting diagrams * Determining which shots to group together & why * Estimating time for each shot set up * **Setting up the camera in a group** * Two teams will work together to set up each camera to be ready to shoot. * We will create a shooting schedule and shot list, determining how much of the script we think is possible in 2.5 hours. * **Shooting the scene** * Shoot the scripted scene using the schedule and shot list. * Camera operator, 1st assistant camera (focus puller), 2nd assistant camera, assistant director. We will rotate so everyone gets a chance to perform each role. * **Review of the raw footage** * Evaluate the footage together **About the Workshop Leader** Alex DePew has spent 17 years in the film industry as a Cinematographer and Gaffer, working on projects ranging from no-budget shorts, music videos, art projects, to ad campaigns for brands like Volkswagen, Loro Piana, and Adidas. He got his start in New York City, his hometown, and has shot all over the world. After moving to Berlin he found his passion for teaching and has taught hundreds of students over the past 9 years. Alex guides you through lighting craft with clarity and enthusiasm, making complex concepts accessible to all. While agents are proficient at writing Python scripts for local execution, orchestrating high-performance distributed algorithms across massive datasets requires deep domain expertise in database internals and parallel execution models. In this talk, we introduce a specialized Agent Skill designed to bridge the gap between generative AI and distributed high-performance computing (HPC). We demonstrate how to instruct a coding agent to leverage Exasol’s User-Defined Functions (UDFs) and Script Languages to push complex Python logic directly into the database engine. **Bio**: Torsten Kilias is a Senior Staff Engineer at Exasol, where he has been driving technical innovation since 2019. His responsibilities include AI Integration, the Python ecosystem and User Defined Functions. Before joining Exasol, he spent years researching in-database text mining, focusing on how to bring advanced analytics directly to where the data lives. **Talk 2: What Actually Changed? Causal Thinking Across Attribution, Segmentation, and Growth** **Abstract**: Customer data is often used to explain what happened, attribution assigns credit, segmentation groups users, and dashboards track performance. Yet marketers and business leaders still struggle with a more fundamental question. What actually changed because of our actions? This talk introduces causal thinking as a practical way to interpret customer data across attribution, segmentation, and growth. It shows why correlation-based metrics can be misleading and how counterfactuals and incrementality help teams ask better questions when they look at results. A concrete email campaign example illustrates how causal uplift modeling separates customers who would have purchased anyway from those whose behavior truly changed. The goal is to help data scientists, marketers, and decision makers move from reading metrics to reasoning about incremental impact and to make better decisions because of it. **Bio**: Dr. Maryam Ramezani-bartsch is a data and analytic leader with over 20 years of global experience building and scaling customer analytics and science teams. She has led the development of customer data, marketing measurement and targeting capabilities at GroupM, adidas, Sky, Delivery Hero, and Zalando, helping embed customer-centric, data-driven decision making across organizations. The TMOD also introduces the key roles and functionaries for that session. **Prepared Speeches:** A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to prepared speeches. Members working through various projects in the Toastmasters education program deliver speeches based on their chosen projects. Each speech is evaluated by a designated evaluator who provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. **Table Topics:** Table Topics is a segment where impromptu speaking skills are tested. The Table Topics Master presents a series of short, unprepared speaking challenges or questions, and members or guests are invited to come to the podium and give a brief, improvised response. **Evaluations:** Following the prepared speeches and Table Topics segment, evaluators provide constructive feedback to speakers. These evaluations focus on content, delivery, body language, and time management. The goal is to help speakers improve their speaking skills. **Reports and Functionary Roles:** The meeting may include various functionary roles, such as the Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and others, who report on their observations and contributions to the session. These roles help members improve their language and time management skills. **General Evaluator:** The General Evaluator provides an overall assessment of the meeting, highlighting what went well and offering suggestions for improvement. They may also evaluate the evaluators' performance. **Awards and Recognitions:** Toastmasters sessions often conclude with awards and recognitions, including the Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker.
