Make New Friends At A Bookshop

Do you want to meet new people in a relaxing chill atmosphere surrounded by new books? Do you dislike loud and smelly places like pubs and clubs? This is the event for you. Science and Philosophy Book Club is creating a new kind of meetup where people who love books and knowledge can meet new friends in a big book shop. We will explore around different sections of the book shop together as a group while making interesting conversations with each other. We will go to both fiction and non-fiction areas. If you feel shy and feel nervous to come alone, I will make sure you will feel comfortable and accomodate to your needs. I will help introduce you to others so you can go over the barrier of anxiety when approaching a new person. We will meet on the ground floor lounge area of Doubletree Hilton Hotel at 6 p.m. It is an amazing cosy bar with classy vibes. We will wait for everyone to show up while getting some drinks and socializing. At 7 p.m we will head to the Waterstones book store near Russel Square and UCL. After we explore the book store, we will come back to the hotel bar and stay there for the rest of the night. This event requires £5 donation to cover the venue fees. You can pay via cash or card. 🌌Ever look up and marvel with insatiable curiosity at the beauty and wonder of the **universe?** That wild sobering thought that somewhere in the chaos of creation - through the emergence of us - the universe became **conscious** enough to look back in time and not just ask the existential questions, but try to answer them. 🚀 Join fellow big picture and deep thinkers to take a look at **Venus,** **Jupiter** along with planet's potential life‑harbouring **moons**, iconic beautiful **star fields**, the remnants of supernovae witnessed by our earliest ancestors, **multi‑star systems** reminiscent of the twin suns of *Star Wars* and even **Tau Ceti**, a star hosting two Earth‑like worlds in its habitable zone. All of this under the spring evening - with drinks, engaging conversation, and good‑natured banter — this May. The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel

In this event, we will discuss about a science or philosophy book chosen by London Science and Philosophy Book Club. The attendees will be divided into groups and each of them will focus on a chapter in the book. This month we will discuss about a fascinating book called The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. If you haven't read the book, it's no problem. I will bring you up to speed with the discussion materials. We will meet in a nice lounge area at 6 p.m for introductions. WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others

The first rule of WRITE CLUB is that you do not talk ***during*** WRITE CLUB. Donald Trump is constantly in the news with his wild antics but does his behaviour reflects genuine misunderstanding or a deliberate performance. Is his improvisational style and headline‑generating remarks simply reflect lack of preparation or is the unpredictability is intentional — a kind of political jazz improvisation designed to keep everyone else playing catch‑up. These disagreements often spill into discussions about how presidents shape public understanding of the U.S. Constitution, especially the parts about checks, balances, and who is supposed to do what without stepping on anyone else’s toes. Trump’s style is in stark contrast with earlier presidents. Over the years I spent studying and writing about American goverment - a few things were clear. **Obama** was a constitutional law professor who actually sounded just like one. Bill **Clinton** the policy explainer‑in‑chief, was capable of turning a simple question into a 40‑minute seminar. Ronald **Reagan**, meanwhile was the great Hollywood storyteller who could make democratic concepts sound like the opening narration of a feel‑good box office toping blockbuster. Perceived by many as a stupid film actor but the Berlin wall along with the USSR could still exist today without his audacious negotiating style that helped to secure personal and economic freedom for millions across Eastern Europe and the baltic states. These comparisons highlight how Trump’s blunt, rapid‑fire, often at times nonsensical approach breaks sharply from earlier rhetorical traditions. But there's a broader life lesson that any wise peron wil recognise: never judge a book by its cover, especially when the “cover” is a public persona crafted for cameras, crowds, and the occasional dramatic pause. In real life, people rarely reveal their true full selves at first glance. It usually takes time before the polished surface, the chaotic exterior, or the carefully curated image gives way to the real person - good or bad underneath. To further confound this mind fuck - the end observers bring their own assumptions and baises to the table, sometimes confusing their perceptions and confirmation biases with truth and mistaking performance for personality or vice versa. Here, our own **Boris Johnson** is worthy of mention. His public personal often leans into theatrical chaos yet anyone who has personally met and spent more than a few mins with him behind cameras will know it's a huge act and he is far more intellectual than people could ever fathom. Compared to the current breed of mediocre MPs - he is a mordern day intellectual heavyweight and skilled natural orator. A stark contrast to the boring robotic charisma lacking Starmer who reads everything off a script. Boris is a good example of how public performance and private capability can diverge dramatically — a reminder that political communication is often as much stagecraft as statecraft. Supporters of Trump sometimes argue that unconventional presentation can mask strategic intent, while critics interpret the same behaviour as inconsistency and stupidness. Do you have spare books lying around your home? Do you want to read new interesting books for free while socializing with interesting people? This is the event for you. We will enjoy nice drinks and snacks together at a beautiful lounge bar in London. You can bring your books and exchange them with whoever has the books you want to read. Since this is a Science and Philosophy book club, it would be great for you to bring non-fiction books that are insightful and thought-provoking. If you want to bring fiction books that are scientifically or philosophically insightful, feel free to bring those as well. Since it is a social event, I encourage everyone to make deep meaningful conversations and make new friends. You can come alone or bring your friends with you. If you come alone, there is no need to be shy or scared. I will welcome you and introduce you to cool interesting people to speak with. Also feel free to come even if you forget to bring any books.
