Charge your batteries and check out the elevation graph of the ride at [https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35740828](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35740828) E-bike Lovers will be in Middleburg's magnificent hills and taste outstanding wines. This wonderful 30.7-mile route is available at: It starts at Aldie Park, avoids highway 50, and leads through spectacular landscapes on rustic, mainly asphalt roads. We have a few miles of compact gravel road. **REMEMBER:** This is a self-guided event. This event empowers each participant to take the lead, as there are no designated bike leaders within E-bike Lovers. We all embrace the role of leaders in this self-guided experience. Please only RSVP if you are coming, so we know how many E-bike Lovers will participate. We enjoy a nearly 100% RSVP success rate. Thank you so much for your help! Afterward, we optionally meet at Chrysalis Vineyards near Aldie Park. We met the vineyard management when we planned this route, and we could picnic with our food and use their facilities. They have excellent pizzas, wines, etc in the backdrop of beautiful hills. Parking for this Meetup is at the small Aldie dam off Route 50. There are no toilets at Aldie Dam. We will bike through the center of Middleburg, where we may find restrooms. The vineyard where we meet after the ride has excellent facilities. Haunted History Ride 👻

Haunted History Ride 👻

Thu, Oct 29, 10:15 PM
From Bike Rockville with RBAC (Rockville Bike Advisory Committee)
4.9

Join us for a spooky, social-paced group ride through some of Rockville’s ghostliest sites. We'll meet at **Trek Bicycle Rockville** shop and head out on an approximately 9-mile loop ride that visits historical cemeteries, rumored haunted spots, and other eerie landmarks. Along the way, we’ll share local ghost stories and legends that bring Rockville’s haunted history to life. This ride is open to all experience levels. We’ll be riding at a relaxed, no-drop pace (about 10 to 12 mph), so no one gets left behind. It will be dark when we start so front (white) and rear (red) bike lights are required. Don’t forget to bring a sense of adventure—and maybe even a costume, if you're feeling festive! Stick around after the ride to mingle with fellow riders and enjoy some snacks hosted by Trek. Come for the history, stay for the chills—if you dare! 👻 READ THE FINE PRINT, PLEASE: • Bicycling involves inherent risks and requires that participants be in proper physical condition. When you RSVP "yes" to a Bike Rockville event, that RSVP is your digital signature attesting that you have read, understood, and agreed to the group's Liability Waiver and Release, located here: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BocKiaMJwba62c7b583CoOxIYamFiaWN/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BocKiaMJwba62c7b583CoOxIYamFiaWN/view?usp=sharing) • HELMETS ARE REQUIRED for all riders on every ride. • We strongly recommend you bring a water bottle, spare tube, cell phone, ID card, and cash or credit card for emergencies. • Rain at start cancels the ride; Wet pavement does not.

Frequently asked questions

Meetup connects bike commuters with local groups centered around riding together. You can find and join groups of fellow cyclists who commute in your city, allowing for shared routes and networking with others who enjoy bike commuting. This platform helps you discover safer and more enjoyable commuting paths while meeting new friends.

Yes, you can find bike commuting events in your area through Meetup. Simply search for local cycling or commuter groups and browse their upcoming events. This way, you can attend planned rides, explore new routes, and enjoy commuting with others in your community.

A bike commuting group on Meetup is a community of cyclists who gather to commute by bike together. These groups often host events such as group rides to work, weekend route exploring, or even casual meetups to discuss cycling tips. Joining such a group connects you with like-minded individuals focused on commuting by bicycle.

To join a biking Meetup group, start by creating a free Meetup account. Then, search for cycling communities or commuting groups in your area. Once you find a group that interests you, join it and RSVP for upcoming events to participate in group rides and activities.

Yes, you can create your own commuting group on Meetup. As a group organizer, you can design meeting points, routes, and schedules that fit yours and potential members' needs. It's an excellent way to bring together local cyclists who share your commuting objectives.

Most commuting events are organized by local groups, providing opportunities for nearby cyclists to meet and ride together. However, interest and group activity levels can vary depending on location, so it might be valuable to explore multiple groups in your area.

Meetup does not directly organize or enforce the quality of events. Quality and organization depend on the commitment and planning of the group organizers. It's always a good idea to read group reviews and feedback to get an idea of event quality ahead of time.

Active participation is key to making connections through Meetup. Engaging with group events, contributing to discussions, and attending rides enhances social interaction and builds relationships with fellow bike commuters. The more involved you are, the richer your Meetup experience will be.

If no local groups are available, consider expanding your search radius or starting your own group. Creating a group can attract other interested cyclists who might be looking for bike commuting companions. Meetup provides the platform and tools to help launch your community.

Yes, many cycling groups focus on particular routes or destinations. When searching, look for groups that specify commuting paths similar to those you use or wish to explore. You might find adventure and improved safety by sharing the road with others.

Joining a biking group can enhance your commuting experience by offering safer, more engaging rides. You'll likely discover new routes and get tips from experienced cyclists as you share your biking journey. The camaraderie of a group can also make early morning rides more enjoyable.

Once you're part of a Meetup group, simply go to the group's event page and click 'RSVP' on events you wish to attend. This helps organizers manage group size and ensure events run smoothly, allowing everyone to maximize their biking experience.

While most events are organized with safety in mind, it's crucial to be proactive by wearing appropriate gear and carrying necessary safety equipment. Meetup itself does not guarantee event safety; it's up to organizers and participants to follow best practices during group rides.

Meetup is primarily focused on group activities rather than solo rides. However, it can connect you with experienced cyclists who may share advice on routes for individual commutes, even though group events are the main emphasis.

Meetup groups are a great resource for beginners. Many cycling communities welcome new commuters, offering tips on gear, routes, and safety. By joining, you can learn from seasoned cyclists and ease into bike commuting with support and shared resources.
