We will begin with short, gestural poses and gradually move onto longer ones. Beginner level instruction will be provided by a local queer artist for those who would like it. This event is 18+, and all skill levels welcome. Figure drawing isn’t just a tradition for classical artists - it’s a rewarding way to connect with the human body. When going to a live figure drawing session, it’s not always disclosed what kind of model the artists will be working with. Given today’s political landscape, OFAM and WQC are creating space for artists to work with the trans body. This event is good for anyone who wishes to hone their skills, diversify their subject matter, or simply enjoy introspective, meditative sketching. Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. There is a fascinating book called "You and Your Profile" where two current philosophy professors argue that there has been a historical progression of identity ideals from sincerity (allegiance to pre-defined social roles) to authenticity (discovery of an inner, true self), and finally to "profilicity", a term they created. Profilicity is defined as the creation of identity through curated public profiles, crafted for "second-order observation"—being seen as being seen. This new mode emphasizes performance and the management of multiple, dynamic personas across different platforms, suggesting that in our current era, identity is constructed through the images we present publicly rather than discovered within. So, the prompt is this: first, is there a true, inner "self" that you can authentically discover to be the "real, authentic" you? Second: whether you think there is an authentic self you can discover or you don't think so, do you think there is any authenticity in self-created profiles, particularly and especially on social media? This new mode emphasizes performance and the management of multiple, dynamic personas across different platforms, suggesting that in our current era, identity is constructed through the images we present publicly rather than discovered within. The Completely Series - (A.M.) Field Shoot - Franklin Park Conservatory

Franklin Park Conservatory opens at 10:00 am but we will plan to meet at 9:00 am to walk the grounds before going in (you will have to purchase your own ticket). These events on the schedule are to serve three purposes: 1. These will serve as field shoots targeted at The Completely Series homework. Generally, each of these shoots will focus on the homework assigned in the two prior weeks. So locations and topics will be picked to match those expectations. 2. Additionally, these events are to serve as placeholders for TIME OF DAY. They are intended to be modified as needed to capture SUNRISE and/or EARLY MORNING light. They will likely be modified to time out for the IDEAL light on that day, at that location. EXPECT THEM TO BE MODIFIED as the time of year changes and/or schedule conflicts occur. But THERE WILL BE at least one morning shoot per month. 3. Lastly, they are also to serve as semi-monthly morning shoots for the group as a whole.
