Drawing II / Course for intermediate drawing skills

WE HAVE ONLY THREE PLACES AVAILABLE FOR THIS COURSE DRAW II . Urban Landscapes This is a seven week course focussed on an urban landscape on Sydney Harbour. Urban landscapes provide an opportunity to draw structure within the landscape which is a great way for beginner drawing students to segue into landscape and the different drawing approaches for that genre. The first session is spent drawing on-site in a Sydney Harbour location learning how artists make studies that are useful as reference material for works created and developed in the studio. Weeks 2 – 7 in this course are spent in the studio with experienced artist [Carmel Byrne](www.carmelbyrne.com) to help develop ideas and to experiment further with materials and scale in drawing. Students must provide their own materials for this course and we’ll back up in the studio with any materials that will help extend your vocabulary in drawing along with scale and techniques. (Located past the International Shipping Terminal, Circular Quay) The second meetup point; the Ship Inn, Circular Quay at 12 noon or Midday. June and July are the prime months for the Northward annual migration of whales off Sydney; moving from Antarctica. The tours will need to be booked by individuals at their own expense and pricing starts around $ 90. I would recommend a telephoto zoom lens of between 100 -500mm and a mirrorless or digital SLR camera for this activity. You may find a shutter speed of 1000 or above using auto ISO useful. Walk a substantial distance across the two neighbourhoods and explore amazing art galleries – exhibiting paintings, photography, sculptures, installations. Listen to interesting stories, interact with the staff. Bonus: some gorgeous boutiques and heritage homes on the route. All welcome – those familiar with art or completely new to it.
