This beautiful walk combines the Thornleigh to De Burghs Bridge section of the Great North Walk along Lane Cove River with the Riverside walk to Lane Cove Weir. Starting from Thornleigh station from the top of Lane Cove Valley we descend (100M) down the historic stone steps into the ferny and moist valley beside Lane Cove River following the Great North Walk through dry grass tree and eucalyptus forest until we reach De Burghs bridge, EXIT POINT halfway. Members have the option of finishing the walk up the road at Macquarie Park Station before lunch. We follow the Riverside Walk along Lane Cove River crossing Porters Creek Bridge with beautiful views of the creek to Lane Cove Weir while stopping for lunch at one of the many picnic areas along the way before crossing Fullers Bridge and following the Ferndale Walk Track to Chatswood Station.. TRANSPORT OPTION: 8:03am train from Central Station Platform 18, arriving at Thornleigh Station at 8:47am. BRING: 3 litres of water, hydralyte tablets, snacks, lunch, sun protection, first aid kit, Bushmans repellant, rain gear, hiking shoes. Mondays are a time to play any game you feel like. We are a friendly community and new people are welcome all the time!
