Bring a Song: A Music Listening Night
Fri, Jul 17, 5:00 PM**Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)** In The Discussion Experiment we usually meet to talk about relevant political, philosophical and personal topics, but sometimes we just want to have fun, therefore: What can we discover when we donât just listen to music while doing something else, but as a group and in silence? What will catch our attention and how does the group setting change the experience? At this event, weâll take some time to listen to different songs, let them have an effect on us, and share whatever we care to put out there. After each piece, weâll take about five minutes to share our impressions. You can spontaneously suggest songs to listen to but donât stress about choosing the ârightâ song! From the most sophisticated masterpiece of music history to Aquaâs Barbie Girl, you can suggest whatever you are curious about that night. Or, in fact, you can just listen and not contribute actively, if thatâs what you prefer. Join us, it will be fun. Anyone and everyone is welcome! **This is a paid event. Entry costs 5⏠plus a fee that meetup charges.** It is free however for regular guests (if you have been to 2 or more events) and you are also very welcome to join for free, if you currently have to be careful with money. DM us in that case. **FAQ** ***What can I expect from the event?*** Each event is a an experiment so itâs difficult to predict exactly how it will play out. This time it is all about listening to music together in silence and then share impressions. If we have more people than time for songs, weâll draw lots to decide who gets to suggest one. We want this to be a relaxed event. Itâs not about picking out particularly unique or sophisticated songs to impress others. Any song youâre curious to hear the groupâs thoughts on is good enough. ***Will the audio quality be amazing?*** No đ It will be fine. We will stream the music and use ordinary speakers, so if you are a super duper hifi kind of person you might be disappointed. ***Do I have to speak? Do I have to suggest a song?*** No. Itâs perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round in the beginning. ***Who is this event for?*** This event is for anyone who is curious about it. We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome. You donât need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part. ***Whatâs the duration of the event?*** Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation. ***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?*** The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms! ***What is "The Discussion Experiment"*** The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations. Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively. This event however is less about discussing and more about exploring music together. This event is co-organized by Kirstin MĂŒller. The project is run by Igor Don and Maria Scholze.

Uniquely Berlin: A Visit to Museum in der Kulturbrauerei
Sun, Jul 26, 12:00 PMDesign and history nerds, this one's for you! This month we'll be visiting [Museum in der Kulturbrauerei](https://www.hdg.de/en/museum-in-der-kulturbrauerei). This free museum displays objects, art, and other artifacts of everyday living in Communist East Germany. Excited to see you there and to check it out! I've been digging around their poster [archive](https://sint.hdg.de/SINT5/SINT/query?wicket:interface=:3:27:::) and it looks incredible. If folks are interested, we can have a post-visit drink and chat at the nearby (and ironic!) Kapitalist.
