Sometimes the best laid plans are meant to change! Instead of glamping (due to a few complications) we are going a little further north to Algonquin Park.
We are staying in a lodge, known for cozy cabins, backpackers, and nearby Ragged Falls which inspired numerous works of the Famous Group of Seven eh! This trip can't get any more Canadian! Maybe we'll even see a moose!
There is space for up to 12 people on this trip. Everyone will have their own bed, but share a cabin. Cabins accommodate 3-4 people.
Organizer will coordinate all sleeping arrangements so people are comfortable, as well as all carpool. Food plans will be discussed as a group.
*Options for sleeping will be first-come first served based on who pays first.
Activities: we'll do a mix of activities: hiking, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding,swimming. We might stargaze (the skies should be great for viewing), have a fire, cook and eat together in the large kitchen, tell stories, play boardgames, play outdoor games, listen to music, relax, enjoy nature, sip wine and other refreshments, and enjoy good food together and more! We are going to have so much fun.
Depart Friday after work around 5pm by carpooling and return on Monday. That's 3 nights, and about 2.5 days. We will have various carpool departure spots and times.
About RSVPs: Must provide your phone number so the organizer can contact you. Prompt response required or you will be moved to the bottom of the list. Everyone goes to wait list to start. No one is confirmed attendance until payment is received and the organizer has spoken to you. Payment secures your spot.
Everybody must answer both RSVP questions to be moved to the GOING list, which you should see when you sign up for the event (everyone goes to the waitlist first):
(1) What is your cell number? (this is private - only the organizer sees this info)
(2) What are your transportation preferences:
A. Passenger at carpool
B. Driver at carpool (I have my own car) for x passengers - do not say "B" unless you own your own car
C. Prefer to be passenger, but driver at carpool for x passengers if needed
About the lodge: We will be staying at a beautiful log cabin lodge situated on the Oxtongue River in the Algonquin Highlands, just a few minutes paddle from Oxtongue Lake and just outside Algonquin. We will be definitely entering the park! We can rent kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, or bikes. We'll also relax at the lodge, on our porch, have a fire. We will stay in several of the cabins near the main lodge. The washroom/shower facilities and kitchen are in the main lodge just a few minutes away, or the outdoor wash stations nearby can also be utilized.
There is a gorgeously comfortable lounge where we can relax after activities and a refreshing swimming spot right nearby!
Cost for Accommodation, including a meetup fee: $150 Max per person
- Everyone has their own bed.
Costs for event:
- Accommodation for 3 nights
- $ to contribute to gas for driving there. Gas costs are determined at the end of the trip. Drivers are reimbursed for their gas.
- Food cost for the weekend. We'll have a plan and discuss together!
- $ for any extra activites or parking costs.
