Who are we?
Local people taking care of wildlife and sharing our passion and knowledge in a practical and fun way in the parish of Cookham.
What are we doing?
· Planning a calendar of local events and activities such as guided walks and talks
· Running practical campaigns and initiatives to enrich habitats such as:
> o Wildlife and natural gardening – educating people about the importance of their gardens and creating wildlife corridors through gardens for hedgehogs and many other animals. Promoting the use of natural and non-chemical substances in the garden.
> o Leaving verges and meadows long, not cutting until after flowers have seeded, and planting wildflowers on verges as food sources for bees and other insects
> o Not cutting hedges and trees between Feb and Aug while birds are still nesting
> o Securing habitat and nest boxes for certain birds such as House Martins and encouraging the use of Swift bricks in new-build properties
> o Reducing light pollution
· Offering wildlife advice and building a community of interest through a dedicated wildlife forum on cookham.com

What's about at Dorney Wetlands?
Jubilee River Car Park near the Pineapple Pub, Lake End Road, Dorney SL4 6QS, GBWith the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Jubilee River coming shortly, we thought we would take a walk to see 'What's About' there. Running from Cookham to Windsor, new features were added to attract a wild range of birds and insects so it will be interesting to see how they fared. So do bring your binoculars and of course dress for the predicted weather. We will be parking in the small Lake End Road car park on the south side of the river, beyond the Pineapple Pub, on the left just over the river bridge. If that becomes full, we have permission to use the pub car park up Lake End Road if necessary. To help raise funds for other WildCookham events and activities that help protect our local environment, there is a £5 fee for this event. Please pay in advance at www.justgiving.com/wildcookham

Screening of the People's Emergency Briefing
Cookham Dean Village Hall, Hills Lane, Cookham Dean, Cookham, GBPlease come along to Cookham Dean Village Hall for a free screening of this important and powerful film.
The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.
This film is intended as a catalyst for a wider public conversation and a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing.
Our MP Joshua Reynolds has been invited to this screening to hear the evidence alongside his constituents. We hope he'll attend and be part of the discussion panel afterwards hosted by TV weatherman Peter Gibbs.
Doors open at 1600 on Sunday October 4th at Cookham Dean Village Hall, the film will start at 1630.
The discussion panel will include a representative of WildCookham, Toby Knight CF Retrofit Surveyor and representatives from RBWM.
There will be refreshments!
