1. Monday 8 milers
2. Tuesday 5 milers
3 Tuesday 4 to 5 milers
4. Wednesday 3 to 4 milers
5. Thursday 8 milers
6. Thursday 8 to 10 milers
**Rod's Walk's **There are around 280 8 mile walks here that can be viewed with any app that can read .GPX files. Probably the best is Ordnance Survey. The maps can be printed off for reccing and put on phones / devices to guide you round the walk.
Alternative free ones are here: https://www.viewgpx.com/ or https://gpx-zone.com/ or https://glandnav.com/tools/gpx-viewer. There are others.
Rod's Walks spreadsheet will take you to a document that lists all the GPX walks, some with Waypoints and What3word start points. This is work in progress so it will be gradually populated as time permits. This list of walks is particularly useful if you are planning to recce a walk in order to eventually lead it.

More about us
✅ in 1979 we now have over 160 paid up (£10 p.a.) members of MWW and another 450 Meetup only members. Over 600 in total.
✅ Our club welcome adults of all ages and backgrounds to join our friendly and welcoming mid-week walking groups. We have 6 groups walking from 3 miles up to 8 to 10 Monday to Thursday every week. Some walks are accessed by public transport and for others, it's best by car to the start point.
✅We run occasional coach trips to walks outside the immediate area. Also, we have an annual holiday on 3rd October 2026 to Arnside for the walking group members.
✅Should you only want to join us for the occasional day, we ask for a £1 donation to help cover our Admin, IT and Insurance costs. However, if you would like to become an annual member it costs £10 from the 1st of January 2025. This will give you access to 100's of walks per annum! It's a massive saving if you are a regular walker. Payment should be made to the group leader on your first walk.
✅You will receive a badge / buff / bottle if you are a fully paid up member (£10) in 2026.
✅ Being a mid-week walking group the walks tend to appeal to retired people and people with flexible working days.
✅Whoever you are when you join us you will be made very welcome.
Guidelines for walkers
✅ It is the walkers’ responsibility to ensure that they are fit and capable of undertaking the walk, and must not walk if they feel unwell at the start. They must have appropriate clothing/equipment and food and water to meet their needs.
✅ Walkers should be adequately equipped, wearing suitable footwear, and carrying clothing appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions which can change during the day. The walk leader reserves the right not to accept into the party anyone he or she considers not to be adequately equipped. Dogs are not permitted on any of the walks.
✅ Walkers need to carry their own food, drink and spare clothing. A torch, whistle and basic first aid kit is also recommended, and a mobile phone could be useful in an emergency. A mobile phone is no substitute for a good map!
✅ Whilst the walk leaders will take every care to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable, walkers take part in these walks at their own risk, and they are responsible for their own personal safety. On the walk it is important not to get ahead of the leaders and If you decide to leave the party during the walk, always tell the leader first.
✅ We aim to observe The Countryside Code - fasten all gates, take care not to damage walls or fences and leave no litter.
On a final note of caution
✅ If you are running late or unable to come, PLEASE contact the walk leader to let them know. Walk hosts will generally give anything up to 5 minutes grace period but it is unfair to keep a group waiting for long.
✅ As with other groups within Meetup, we offer a 3 strikes policy. This means that if you fail to let the walk leader know about walks that you have RSVP'd to and do not show up, then you will get an email reminder and may be removed from the group. Also, please note that if you have not visited the site or not attended a walk in 12 months, you may be removed from the group. However, you are welcome to re-join again at any time.
