What we’re about
Twin Cities Hiking Meetup (TCHM) is for hiking and outdoor enthusiasts who want to join like-minded people to hike on the vast and varied trails in the Twin Cities. Our purpose is to provide a variety of hiking and outdoor opportunities in our area's beautiful natural settings that foster friendships and community. Our members share a strong commitment to leaving our parks, lakes and rivers the way we found them; we embrace a leave-no-trace philosophy.
While TCHM focuses on hiking and hiking related activities, other outdoor activities, such as snowshoeing may be offered. Hikes are held year-round and many of them include a social gathering afterwards! Most of our regularly scheduled hikes take place in Minneapolis, St. Paul and the suburbs, but don’t be surprised to see opportunities to hike in county and state parks outside the metro area.
When joining TCHM, please use your given name or nickname in your profile, along with a clear photo of yourself. This will help us identify you when we see you on a hike or other activity.
There is no cost to join TCHM. However, maintaining our Meetup account costs approximately $300 each year. Periodically we will initiate a fundraiser to help with these costs. Participation in fundraisers is welcomed and voluntary.
TCHM is a place for you to get some exercise, have fun and enjoy your favorite outdoor activity with people who share your interests.
We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming and harassment-free experience for all TCHM members.

See all- Father’s Day Hike at Crow Hassan Park – Hanover + Big Bore BBQCrow-Hassan Trailhead, Rogers, MN
Let’s meet up for a ~7 mile hike to enjoy the wide open spaces at Crow Hassan Park! Following the hike(optional), join us for lunch/refreshments at nearby Big Bore BBQ, 10940 4th St NE, Hanover, MN 55341 763-777-5933. MENU | Big Bore Barbecue
With almost 100 wildflowers, Crow-Hassan contains one of the most diverse restored prairies in the state. In turn, it is a hot spot for many of MN’s native butterfly species! Located on the Crow River, this park offers an uninterrupted expanse of peaceful wilderness.
We will hike approximately 7-7.5 miles at a medium pace (18-20 minute miles) over 2.5-3 hours, through a variety of landscapes including wetlands, hardwood forest, oak savannah and rolling prairie. We will stop a few times to enjoy the scenery. All of the trails will be non-paved trails with uneven terrain that varies with turf, ruts, rocks, roots, gravel, sand, mud and dirt. There are many hills on this trail with several steep hills. We will be hiking wide multi-use trails, so we may pass some horses.
Protective clothing or DEET bug spray should be considered for potential ticks, mosquitoes and other bugs that are active at this time of year. Sunscreen and/or protective clothing are also recommended – some sections of the trail are out in the open with few trees for shade.
Bathrooms and drinking water are available at the trailhead with a couple of pit toilets along the trail. This is a Three Rivers Park, so FREE Parking!
Sorry, no +1s or children allowed on this hike.
Well behaved dogs kept on a 6 ft leash are welcome.
