Join us for a beautiful hike through Flint Pen Strand, one of my favorite places to explore in Southwest Florida!
What’s unique about Flint Pen Strand is how dramatically it changes with the seasons, even within weeks. The flora and fauna are constantly changing, making every hike a different experience!
🥾 Our Hiking Plan
This will be a hike of 4-5 miles
We’ll be starting from the Pinewoods Parking Lot this time and exploring a slightly different route.
Our plan is to cover portions of the white, orange, and lavender trails, with the goal of crossing over to explore part of the dark purple trail, conditions permitting. I’d love to venture beyond the trails we’ve typically explored and see what else this beautiful preserve has to offer!

💦 Trail Conditions
Portions of the trails are VERY WET, so be prepared to walk through ankle-deep water, muddy sections, and uneven terrain. We will not be doing any deep-water wading, but you should expect to get your feet wet!
Our route may be adjusted based on trail and water conditions.
🎒 What to Bring
- Plenty of drinking water
- Comfortable hiking shoes that can get wet
- A change of shoes for after the hike
- Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat
- Camera or phone for nature sightings!

- Be prepared for a hike of at least five miles, uneven terrain, muddy sections, and standing water.
- Please arrive on time. We will observe our usual five-minute grace period and then begin our hike. Late arrivals may not be able to catch up with the group.

If you need to cancel, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice whenever possible. This gives members on the waitlist, or others who would like to participate, an opportunity to join us. Please be considerate of your fellow members and the time involved in organizing these events.
