About us
Too much concrete, traffic, and chain storefronts got you down? For most of us living just north of Atlanta, we are within an hour's drive of some incredible Georgia Mountain scenery. This group is for people who live, work, or play in and around Atlanta - Alpharetta, Roswell, Suwanee, Duluth, Sandy Springs - and hear the mountains calling. This is a great group for meeting new people who share the love of nature and outdoors or think they might but don't know yet. It doesn't matter whether you have never hiked a day in your life, this group is a great introduction. We'll hike for enjoyment - that means we aren't concerned with setting a certain pace, and we will be there to enjoy and connect with nature. If you like taking pictures, enjoy exploring new places, can't stand running and want alternative exercise, or you've finished the entire season your Netflix obsession in 48 h and now you have to wait a year for the next season, come join us!

Stone Mountain Park – Cherokee and Kings Trails –6.1 miles– Easy to Moderate
Cherokee Trail, Georgia, GA, USDistance: 6.1 Miles
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Group Pace: 2.5 - 3 MPH
Parking: $20 per carStone Mountain Park. Not only does it have a crazy-big rock, but it has several really great trails too – some which allow some really cool views of the mountain’s “backside”, a grist mill, a covered bridge crossing and a crossing of the big lawn and engraving. Not a shabby lineup all in all!
This hike will link together the Cherokee Trail and the Kings Trail at Indian Island, for a hike somewhere just over 6 miles in total.
While entry to the park is technically free of charge, the park will charge you $20 if you bring along a vehicle and want to park it for the day😊. That's $20 per car, not per person. If you would prefer to by an annual pass, they are $40.
Since we will not be doing the mountain walk up trail, doggies are permitted and encouraged to join in on this one. Woof! 🐕🦺
We will meet at the base of the walk-up trail outside near the restrooms. The parking lot at the base of the trail does fill up pretty quickly on weekends, so you may need to use one of the side lots and put in a few extra steps as well. So, please allow yourself a little extra time to get parked and to the meeting place. If you are unsure where to go, using the pin map in this event invite by linking it to google maps will lead you to the right spot.
The hike will start at 9:01 am, and I figure it will take us about 2.75-3 hours max with a couple short rest breaks to complete it. Please note, I do like to and will start events on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees.
Below are some helpful links for you to review if you want to get a flavor for what you are signing up for. Of course and as always, if you have any questions in advance please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
