About us
We’re the St. Louis Urbanists, a grassroots advocacy group working to create safer and more effective infrastructure for pedestrians, bicycle users, transit riders, and even car drivers in the St. Louis region. Our movement aims to promote better urban design through education, organization, and engagement at every level.
We hope to create a community for like-minded individuals to hang out and discuss transportation, urban design, local politics, and other similar topics. You can join us at our online Discord server, where we share tactical wins, post resources, and discuss local issues.
Our main in-person meetups are on the 2nd Thursday of every month. These meetings are open to all. The first half of these meetings is formal discussion of our organization and project updates, and the second half is social.
In addition, we have a number of recurring meetups, such as Social Bike Rides, Urbanist Book Club, and Bus Bike Brunch. We're always coming up with new meetup ideas, and let us know if you have an idea of your own!

Bike Bus to the St. Louis Symphony

Join our bike bus to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's free concert in Forest Park on Wednesday, Sept 16. Beat the traffic and ride with a group to the concert and back! We have several routes planned across the city, with timed stops along the way to get you there and back with confidence.
The St. Louis Coalition to Protect Cyclists and Pedestrians will be running several Bike Bus routes across the City, each on a timed schedule with published stops to make catching us easy. We have six routes planned (view here):- Francis Park / Maplewood Route: Starts in Francis Park, with stops at Lindenwood Park, Sutton Loop Park, and St. Mary's Hospital
- Carondelet / Tower Grove Route: Starts in Carondelet Park, with stops at Marquette Park, Gravois Park, Tower Grove Park, and Cortex
- Cherokee Route: Starts in Benton Park and joins the Carondelet / Tower Grove route in Gravois Park
- Downtown / CWE Route: Starts at the Arch, with stops at City Hall, Soccer Stadium, SLU, and Cortex
- U City Route: Starts in Heman Park with a stop at the Olin Library on the Wash U campus
- Clayton Route: Starts in Shaw Park, with stops in Wydown Park and Demun Park
Detailed schedule and map are included here. All the rides arrive at Art Hill in Forest Park at 6pm, and depart at 8:45pm to return along the same route.
Plan ahead to be safe! Please note that this will be a public ride on open city streets, with all the risk that entails. Each rider is responsible for their own safety. Lights, a helmet, and lock are strongly encouraged, and a bell is helpful. Schedule and route are subject to change.
The ride is free and open to the public.
Tips:
- Pump your tires, check your brakes, and take your bike for a test ride before the concert to make sure it is in good shape
- Arrive at your stop 5 minutes early, and double-check the schedule a few days before the ride for any last minute changes
- Remember who your ride leader is, so you can follow them for the ride back from the concert
- Seating on Art Hill is in the grass, so you may want to bring something to sit on

Urbanist Book Club - Everyday Utopia

Crosswalk Action: Arsenal
Tower Grove Park Basketball Courts, 4170 Arsenal St, St. Louis, MO, USHelp us kick off CP2's first-ever Crosswalk Action!
Join the St. Louis Coalition to Protect Cyclists & Pedestrians and St. Louis Urbanists as we spend an hour raising awareness about Arsenal's new pedestrian crossings and reminding drivers to stop for people in crosswalks.
Arsenal recently received several new high-visibility crosswalks, curb extensions (bump-outs) at unsignaled intersections and also a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at Bent Avenue to make crossing safer. These improvements only work if drivers recognize them and yield to people crossing. That's where we come in.

- 9:00-10:00 a.m.
- Meet at Bent & Arsenal
We'll gather at the crosswalk near the basketball courts on the north side of Arsenal at Bent Avenue for a brief orientation before heading out to the crosswalk(s). Volunteers will hold friendly safety signs, encourage drivers to stop, answer questions from curious passersby, and help raise awareness about pedestrian safety.
If you're comfortable doing so, you can also serve as a Crossing Volunteer by crossing with members of the public who are already waiting to cross. No experience is necessary, and volunteers should only participate in activities they're comfortable with.
Whether you're a longtime advocate or simply someone who wants safer streets for everyone, we'd love to have you join us.What to expect

- About one hour at nearby crosswalk(s) - We may expand our crossings depending on attendance
- High-visibility vests and signs provided
- Brochures available to hand out to anyone who asks about the event
- Family-friendly (children should attend with a parent or guardian)

Weather
We'll be there as long as the Tower Grove Farmers Market is happening. Rain won't stop us, but severe weather will.We hope you'll RSVP but walk-ups are always welcome! If you happen to see us while visiting the farmers market, feel free to stop by and join us or just cross the street where we are.
