Shropshire Diners

Shropshire Diners is a friendly, subscription-free Meetup group dedicated to bringing together people who enjoy good food, relaxed company, and the pleasures of dining out in and around the beautiful market town of Shrewsbury.

Our group is about Fun, Food & Friendship.
Our group exists to bring people together to enjoy good food, good company and friendship.
We want it to be a welcoming, relaxed and enjoyable place where people can meet old friends, make new ones and simply have a good time.
To help us keep it that way, we ask everyone to support a few simple guidelines:
Be welcoming.
Please help new and existing members feel included and comfortable. A friendly group is something we all help to create.
Be respectful.
We won’t always agree with one another, and that’s perfectly normal. Different personalities and opinions are part of any social group. We simply ask that disagreements are handled with courtesy and respect.
Keep it positive.
Everyone has an occasional grumble, but persistent negativity, complaining or criticism can affect an event for everybody. Our gatherings should primarily be places where people come to enjoy themselves.
Please don’t use the group for gossip or personal disputes.
Talking negatively about other members, organisers or other groups can quickly damage trust and spoil the atmosphere. If you have a genuine concern about something happening within our group, please speak directly and privately to one of the organisers.
Other groups are other groups.
Many of our members belong to several social and Meetup groups, and that’s absolutely fine. We simply ask that disagreements, politics or disputes involving other groups are left outside ours.
Treat venues and their staff well.
We rely on restaurants, pubs and other venues to welcome us. Genuine problems should of course be raised politely, but please remember that how we treat staff and venues reflects on the whole group.
Cancellations & Attendance
Restaurant bookings often require considerable organisation and sometimes deposits. If you RSVP to an event, please regard that as a commitment to attend. Members who repeatedly cancel at short notice or fail to attend may temporarily lose access to group events or, in persistent cases, have their membership reviewed.
Bills, Service Charges & Payments
At group meals, bills and individual payments will normally be organised at the end of the meal.
Where a restaurant applies a discretionary service charge to the group bill, we recommend paying it, unless there is evidence of poor service.
Everyone is responsible for ensuring that their own food and drinks have been paid for before leaving.
Respecting Our Events
Please do not use Shropshire Diners events to promote competing events, businesses or other groups without first discussing this with the organisers.
Friendship, Not Dating
Shropshire Diners is a social and friendship group, not a dating group. Friendships and relationships may naturally develop, but members should respect personal boundaries and avoid unwanted or persistent romantic attention.
Where someone’s behaviour repeatedly undermines the enjoyment, trust or wellbeing of the group, we may decide that the group is no longer the right fit for them.

Liability Notice
Shropshire Diners is a friendly social group for independent adults. The organiser and venues are unable to provide personal care, supervision, or mobility assistance. Members attend at their own risk and are responsible for ensuring they have any support they require.
