Celebrate fall in San Diego with a fun and social adventure through Balboa Park! The Great Pumpkin Scavenger & History Hunt is a great way to meet new people, spend time with friends, and explore some of the fascinating history and hidden secrets of Balboa Park.
Come on your own or bring friends—we’ll organize everyone into teams before sending you off on a two-hour adventure through the El Prado District site of the 1915 and 1930 World's Fairs. Your team will search for clues, uncover interesting landmarks and hidden gems, and keep an eye out for more than 100 mini pumpkins hidden throughout this section of the park!
After the hunt, you’re invited to join other participants for a bite to eat and drinks at a nearby pub or restaurant.

### How the Balboa Park Great Pumpkin Scavenger & History Hunt Works

• Meet us at The Spreckels Organ Pavilion at 10:00 am. Come alone or with friends! We’ll organize participants into teams of 5. If you already have a team, just let us know.
• Once the hunt begins, each team will have 2 hours to find as many clues as possible throughout Central Park.
• The clues will lead you to historical markers, wildlife, street performers, fountains, statues, tourists, and some of the park’s lesser-known secrets.
• To add some fall fun, we’ll hide more than 100 mini pumpkins along the route! Look for them in bushes, behind benches, near statues, and in other unexpected places. Each pumpkin your team finds earns extra points.
• At the end of the hunt, everyone will meet near the finish point. We’ll tally the scores and see which team uncovered the most clues and pumpkins. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!
• Afterward, anyone who would like to keep the fun going can join other participants for food and drinks nearby.

Is the hunt difficult? Do I need any experience?
Not at all! This is designed to be a fun and casual fall activity. You don’t need any scavenger hunt experience, and the clues are designed to be discoverable while still keeping things interesting.
What happens if it rains?
The event is rain or shine. We’ll send updates before the event if necessary, but please come prepared for the weather.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely! In fact, many of our guests come on their own. We’ll place you on a team, making this a great opportunity to meet new people while enjoying Balboa Park.

Gals vs Guys: The Great Date Debate & Dinner Party!
Join us for a lively and entertaining evening where we tackle the timeless mysteries of dating, communication, and connection between men and women. Hosted by SD Social Network Staff Members, this event blends fun, cocktails and a light meal, with candid conversation in a way you’ve never experienced before!

What to Expect
🕖 Doors open at 5:00 PM for optional self-directed museum tour — Kick things off with group socializing and exploration with the optional self-directed museum tour and group meet up. Meet up with your host on the 2nd floor terrace to grab your nametag and Bingo Card + Pencil, then take off to explore the Museum. Mingei Tickets are only $5 after 5pm on Fridays!
🗣 At 6:30 PM, we’ll head downstairs to start gathering as a group at the Artifact Restaurant at our reserved table. Official Event Check-in is from 6:15pm-6:30pm. Once everyone has had a chance to order their drinks/meals, the host will start going through the questions at around 7pm.

*Guests who sign up at least 1 week in advance will have the option of submitting their questions ahead of time via email.
Once everyone has had a chance to order their meal and drinks, and submit their questions, the group will settle down to read and respond to your anonymous submissions. Men and women will take turns reacting, sharing insights, and debating — all in good fun!

Is there professional advice offered?
Nope — just real people, real talk. This is a fun and light-hearted exchange, not a therapy session.
Where do I park? Ample parking is found around Balboa Park.

• Free parking for all lots at Balboa Park begins at 6pm.
• It's been a little convoluted with the paid parking rules. Anytime before 6pm, Free 3-hour parking is found in Lot 3 which is a bit of a trek, but has a tram shuttle. There's also the option of getting a resident permit pass for the rest of the year for "free parking" (processing fee $5.00) online for both lot 2 and Lot 3 directly from the City of San Diego. • Other options include Uber/Lyft. In January 2027, parking will be free once again.

Do I have to order food to participate? Your food and drink order helps support the venue, but it is not a requirement to attend an participate. But if you'd like to order something, the option is available and very high quality both in flavor and concept.
Do I have to talk at the event? You're welcome to speak as much or as little as you feel comfortable, but do be respectful of the group by allowing enough time for other people at the table to share their thoughts. Do keep in mind that the point of the gathering is not to convince anyone, but simply to share your genuine thoughts. Remember to be kind and understanding both toward the people who have asked the question and to those who offer their answers.
Can you guarantee that my question will be answered? Depending upon the number of questions submitted, your host will divide the discussion time accordingly. In the event that we run out of time, any unanswered questions will be saved and carried over to a future Guys Vs Gals Debate party which are usually held once every 2-3 months throughout the year.
What if I'm running late? It's no problem if you're running a little behind, but if you won't be arriving until after 6:45pm do let your host know ASAP, so that you're not counted as a no show.
