Balboa Park Beginner Ride
Morley Field Sports Complex, 2221 Morley Field Dr, San Diego, CA, USWelcome to the Beginner ride at Balboa Park! This group is geared towards new riders getting comfortable with their mountain bike and dirt trails.
All participants need to complete the SDMBA waiver at least once every 6 months. SDMBA Waiver
This is a no-drop, beginner paced ride around some of the best trails Balboa Park has to offer with time to work on some basic skills. The ride is from 5:30pm - 7:00pm, with frequent stops to regroup and to work on skills. Average distance is 5 - 8 miles with ~200ft elevation gain.
We will meet in the parking lot (see the map) and ride out to the trails together.

Mountain biking can be a dangerous sport, and learning new skills can be challenging. Always wear a helmet, bring plenty of water and if any part of the trail is above your ability and/or comfort zone it is okay to walk it.The ride is lead by Karen St.Germain.

A. You can tell your significant other, parent, roommate, financial advisor, etc that you have my permission to buy a gravel bike. You've earned it.Q. Can I bring my mtb/xc/e-bike/cyclocross/hardtail/surron?

A. It's ~12 miles and ~1600' of elevation, the climb at the end is kinda brutal.All participants need to complete the SDMBA waiver at least once every 6 months. SDMBA Waiver

The ride is from 5:30pm - 7:30pm, with frequent stops to evaluate and practice features and obstacles. Average distance is 5 - 15 miles with ~500-1500 ft elevation gain.We will meet at Black Mountain Ranch Park

We will meet at the tree by the parking lot (see the map and just look for the mountain bikers) and ride out together.Lights: We've reached the season when lights have become mandatory for evening rides. All attendees must bring functional riding lights until springtime gives us longer riding daylight again
