What we’re about
Welcome to the Rossi Racquet Club!
Let me be the first to say hello and thank you for joining our wonderful MeetUp group.
*THE RULES, SO PLEASE READ IN FULL!*
As we add more members and more events to the group I’ve decided it’s time to update the rules of the group and enforce these new rules accordingly so that everyone can have their best experience.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these updates please feel free to reach out to me.
• About Us •
We are a fun, spirited, group of tennis players and enthusiasts that play every Saturday and Sunday and every major holiday.
We are a casual, yet competitive group from all walks of life.
The atmosphere that we will strive for is:
• Friendly and social
• Fun and enjoyable
• Competitive and challenging
If you like fast paced, competitive tennis then this is the group for you. If you are a beginner having at least basic knowledge of game play, scoring, and court positioning and looking to improve your game then this group is also for you.
This is tennis for all levels from skilled beginners to advanced. Not sure what your level is? Please check out this reference section BEFOREHAND to see where you stand:
NTRP Rating Categories
1.0 This player is just starting to play tennis.
1.5 This player has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play.
2.0 This player needs on-court experience. This player has obvious stroke weaknesses but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play.
2.5 This player is learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. This player can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability.
3.0 This player is fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up, one-back.
3.5 This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots but still lacks depth and variety. This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing teamwork in doubles.
4.0 This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. This player occasionally forces errors when serving. Rallies may be lost due to impatience. Teamwork in doubles is evident.
4.5 This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots, and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. This player can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. This player tends to over-hit on difficult shots. Aggressive net play is common in doubles.
5.0 This player has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or attribute around which a game may be structured. This player can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys, can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys and overhead smashes, and has good depth and spin on most second serves.
5.5 This player has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. This player can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and hits dependable shots in stress situations.
6.0-7.0 These players generally will not need NTRP ratings. Ranking or past rankings will speak for themselves. The 6.0 player typically has had intensive training for national tournament competition at the junior and collegiate levels and has obtained a sectional and/or national ranking. The 6.5 player has a reasonable chance of succeeding at the 7.0 level and has extensive satellite tournament experience. The 7.0 is a world-class player who is committed to tournament competition on the international level and whose major source of income is tournament prize winnings.
Court etiquette:
-Please do not walk onto/behind a court when the ball is in play. Wait for that point to finish before you cross a court.
-If a ball rolls onto your court from another court, kindly roll the ball back to the fence of that court if you aren’t able to pass it to those players. Do NOT stop game play on your court just to roll a ball back.
-If a ball goes out of the court and into the park or street, please yell “BALL OUT!!” and someone not playing will grab the ball for you. Do NOT stop play on your court to retrieve the ball. Someone will get it for you.
-Please try and keep the chatting volume to a low level when sitting on the benches. We do encourage socializing but remember others are also playing points and need concentration.
-Please try not to stand behind courts 1 & 2 while the ball is in play. Try and keep to the bench area.

1. At all times be respectful of other members and organizer. Those that can not respect our members, the organizer, or our rules will be banned.
2. If you RSVP "Yes" and later decided not to come, please change the RSVP to "No" so the first member on the “Waitlist” can get your spot.
a.) If you choose not to attend an event that you RSVPd "Yes" to, please make sure you change your RSVP no later than 11 PM, the day before the start of that event so that those on the ”Waitlist” will have time to make accommodations if they are moved to the "Going" list.
b.) Please remember that if you are on the waitlist, the assumption is that you will be able to attend if you are moved up to the "Going" list. If you cannot attend, then kindly remove yourself from the waitlist by 11 PM the day before the event
c.) Anyone who is on the "Going" list before the start of that event and do not show up for the event will be considered a "No Show".
d.) Anyone that cancels AFTER 11 PM the day before the start of the event will be considered a "No Show".
e.) If any member has 3 "No Shows” within a 3 month period, that member will be suspended from RSVPing to the group for 1 month.
3. Members are expected to arrive on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late you will be considered a "No Show".
Please arrive and be ready to play at the start of the event.
4. Remember, you can only RSVP to (1) session per day! Either 8:30 (OR) 10:30.
NOT BOTH! If you RSVP for (2) sessions for the same day you will be REMOVED from BOTH!! So please pay close attention to which session you are choosing and DO NOT RSVP for more than one session per day.
5. All First-time attendees to a Rossi Racquet Club event must message the organizer thru MeetUp PRIOR to the start of the event to confirm attendance. If you do NOT message the organizer by 11pm BEFORE the start of the event then you will forfeit your spot and the next person on the waitlist will be moved to the going list.
Keep Courts Clean: Please leave the courts in better shape than when you arrived! Let us keep these beautiful public courts clean.
Please avoid no shows and late cancellations as you are taking away from someone else's chance to enjoy the event.
Now the Basics:
-Doubles only
-Balls provided
-Competitive matches arranged
-Time off court considered
-Priority to those who have played the fewest times.
We will arrange courts based on skill level and attendees that sign up.
The suggested donation for the MeetUp is $3.00. This helps cover the cost of balls, supplies, and social events.
* Please double check this space
1 HOUR BEFORE scheduled start time for weather and other related updates.
If you find yourself on the waitlist please make sure to check back and see if you’ve been moved to the “Going List.” This happens automatically and can happen on short notice.
Please understand that your RSVP is a commitment to the other players who are attending. Their event experience, like yours, is adversely affected when a member doesn't show up or is consistently late.
If you RSVP for a MeetUp event and have to change your RSVP, do so by 11pm the day before the event. This allows for others on the “Waitlist” to be able to be moved to the “Going List”
Be kind to those on the waitlist, it could be you one day.
Three “No Shows” may result in removal of RSVP privileges for future MeetUps.
Courteousness is contagious!
I can’t wait to see you out there!
Happy Hittin’ !
