Land Trust Days is a statewide, 2 month celebration of the many special places protected by land trusts. Land trusts across the state host activities to share the special places they are protecting for everyone, young and old to enjoy. These events include guided walks, community festivals, full moon walks, farm tours and a whole lot more.
Please note: some events may require registration outside of MeetUp. Please read event descriptions carefully.

Self-guided Walking Tours at Watson Farm

Today, this 265-acre working farm is managed using innovative, sustainable practices that continue the tradition of pastoral husbandry, raising heritage Red Devon cattle and multi-colored sheep. Explore this 265-acre property, which today is a sustainable working farm.
During open hours, take a self-guided walking tour on up to 2.5 miles of easy to moderate trails, participate in an outdoor workshop, explore farm fields with grazing livestock, stroll along the shore, and view seasonal farm activities. The farmers grow hay and sell livestock to other farms, and produce wool products available at our farm. The 1796 house, still used as the farmers’ residence, may be viewed from the exterior only.

Learning Bird Conservation Techniques: Feather Structure

Learn the ins and outs of Dr. Sarah Deckel's avian research with Audubon with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with field-related bird research. The first hour will be a lecture with background information about the technique in question, with relevant research studies mentioned and examples of how scientists use this technique in the field. During the second hour, YOU will be the scientist! Follow a protocol and analyze field data as though you were conducting your own study. Topics are nest dissection, sound analysis, and feather structure. Sign up for one or all three sessions.

Join us for an engaging presentation exploring the role of land trusts across the state, the landscapes they help protect, and the impact they have on recreation, wildlife, and local communities. You'll gain a better understanding of Rhode Island's conservation network and leave with ideas for how to explore, connect with, volunteer for, and support local land conservation efforts.
About our speaker: Kate Sayles is the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Land Trust Council. She works with Rhode Island's network of land trusts to support land conservation, community engagement, and stewardship efforts throughout the state.

Located by the bay on the ancestral homeland of the Narragansett People, Casey Farm once produced food for local and coastal markets and was one of many plantations tied to slavery. Today, farm managers raise organically grown produce for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and the seasonal Casey Farm Market. Tour the farmyard to visit the animals, the cemetery where generations of Caseys are memorialized, and the farm house museum gallery featuring family portraits and cultural objects representing all the people of this land.
