12 rules for life: Rule 5-8
➡️ Are you someone who likes understanding the “why ” behind people and their behavior? I’m a master’s psychology student, and I’m starting a small community for people who are curious about psychology and are looking to dive deeper into these kinds of questions.
For the second event, we’ll be continuing discussing 12 Rules for Life : An Antidote to Chaos by clinical psychologist and author Jordan Peterson . The book brings together ideas from psychology, biology, philosophy and ancient myths that can be applied to everyday life.
We will split into smaller groups (which can be in either english or dutch), to have more space to dive into each chapter and share our thoughts. We will also switch groups after a while, so you get a chance to hear different perspectives from other participants.
There will be example questions provided for each chapter. In order to dive deep into each chapter, this meeting will only focus on 4 of the 12 rules:
Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them.
Set your house in order before you criticize the world.
Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expedient.
Tell the truth, or at least don‘t lie.
📍 We will meet at Kralingse Bos (in front of the Boathouse)In case of rain, we will still meet at the boathouse and then head to a nearby cafe (Brasserie Woodz)
📖 Reading the book is recommended, but the discussion questions will allow you to participate even if you haven’t read it.
If you’re looking for a chance to meet other psychology lovers and explore topics beyond small talk, you’re very welcome to join! Attendance at previous meetings is not required, still feel free to join!
We hope to see you there :)
📌Disclaimer: this book club focuses specifically on the psychological ideas and themes in the book and how they’re applicable to our personal everyday life. Political views are not the focus of this discussion.
