About us
This group is for single people in their 30’s & 40's looking for friends and/or a healthier way to date. This isn’t a dating group per se (though relationships happen ;) ... it’s for people who genuinely want to make real life connections.
Community Rules:
- 1. Everyone aged 28-49 (who agrees to follow these rules) are welcome to join.
- 2. No harassing or overly negative, aggressive, or forward behavior.
- 3. Instead of asking for someone’s number, please give them yours so they can decide whether or not to contact you.
- 4. Do not touch anyone at events without explicit verbal consent from that person.
- 5. Do not direct message members you don't know or haven't met.
- 6. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. All races, genders, sexual orientations, and lifestyles are welcome.
- 7. Our group is “sex positive” meaning we promote an open, tolerant, and progressive attitude toward consensual sex and sexuality. Shaming will not be tolerated.
- 8. Be respectful and kind.
- 9. Be honest and transparent.
- 10. Self-awareness and maturity are expected.
- 11. Make sure to change your RSVP to "no" if you can no longer attend an event. If you no-show to 2+ events (leaving your RSVP as "yes" and not showing up) you will be removed from the group.
- 12. Do not show up to events that you're on the waitlist for, or that you haven't RSVP'd for. Only attend events you're on the 'going' list for.
- 13. Members must use their real name (not a pseudonym) and a photo with their face in their Meetup profile. This helps many people feel safer coming to events.
- 14. Anyone with sexual offense or violent criminal convictions are not welcome in our group. If you know of someone who has joined our group that has a sexual or violent criminal history please notify our organizers immediately so we can remove them. All reports will stay anonymous.
>> If a fellow group member has violated one of these rules or made you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host or another organizer (like Kristina, Max or Erin) know as soon as possible.
Other Rules:
- Promoting your business, soliciting members, and/or trying to sell products or services to members is prohibited. This includes promoting dating and relationship services or events that are not affiliated with our group.
- Some events require you to provide your own equipment and supplies (like camping and floating). You must have the basic listed items to attend and the group does not provide them. So please do not RSVP or attend if you do not have your own supplies.
- If you wish to bring a pet, child, or someone under 21 to an event, please ask the event host first.
- Any member that is rude to other members or venue staff will be banned from the group.
PLEASE READ OUR NEW GROUP RULES AND MISCONDUCT POLICY HERE
Age Requirements:
If you are over 28 then you are welcome to join. The upper limit for joining our group is 49. Existing active members may remain in our group till the age of 53. The age limits are to keep everyone in a relatable life stage. Please do not join if you are outside these ages as we've had issues arise recently due generational differences and older men preying on significantly younger women. We do not make individual exceptions to the age the requirements so do not message to ask. If you disclose after you join that you are outside these ages you will be removed and banned from the group.
Harassment and Phishing:
Harassment, phishing, or spamming our members will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the group. That also includes messaging multiple members in an attempt to score a date/hook up. That is phishing and is grounds for removal. Please do not message members you do not already know. This makes people very uncomfortable and is considered predatory behavior. If you are a member and feel like another member is harassing you via direct messaging or in person at our events please notify Kristina, Max, Erin or another group organizer immediately.
We also have a zero tolerance policy for poor behavior at our events or on the online platform. This includes being too forward in asking people out and making them feel uncomfortable. If you ask someone out they do not give you an enthusiastic "yes" then move on and do not ask them out again. Please review our misconduct policy here.
Discord Server:
We have an active Discord server community that is a great way to interact with group member's outside of the events. To join the server you must be an attending member of our Meetup events by having attended at least 1 in person event. Join here: https://discord.gg/tn66X4Qdxv
Interested in hosting events in the PDX Single 30 & 40 Somethings group? We're pretty much always open to new hosts, and the only real prerequisite is having attended a few events with the group recently. Chat with Kristina W, either via message or in person at an event, if you're interested.

*Johnson Creek Watershed Council is a local non-profit that works to restore Johnson Creek. They do a bunch of things like replacing small culverts that block fish passage, collecting data on the presence of various animals (like beavers and lamprey), removing trash from the creek during their Annual Johnson Creek Clean-Up, and working with people who own property along the creek/streams in the watershed to plant trees and shrubs for them at no cost.
