January Hike & Lunch at Buck Gully Reserve (NPB) & Mendocino Farms
Buck Gully Reserve, 872 Poppy Ave, Corona Del Mar, CA, USBring water, comfortable lightweight hiking shoes, sunscreen, hat, and jacket as appropriate.
We will meet at 8:45am at the Buck Gully Reserve trailhead (872 Poppy Ave, Corona Del Mar). Park on/near Poppy and 5th street (neighborhood parking). We will start our hike promptly at 9:00am so allow yourself the time to park and find us.
Immediately following the hike (probably about 11:15), we will be having lunch at Mendocino Farms @ 849 Newport Center Dr, Newport Beach in Fashion Island (hopefully out on the patio). Park in the parking structure between Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. It's right across from Bloomingdales. IF IT RAINS, THE HIKE IS CALLED OFF, BUT THE LUNCH IS STILL ON AT 11:00AM AT MENDOCINO FARMS.
Buck Gully Reserve is a natural, coastal canyon in the City of Newport Beach. The canyon is bounded by urbanized areas, including single-family residences, roadways, and the Pelican Hills Golf Course. The watershed draining into Buck Gully encompasses approximately 1,200 acres and includes portions of the San Joaquin foothills. Here's a link to a Youtube video that you may find informational. Here's another good video to watch. Difficulty level: Easy; No dogs allowed.
For questions about the hike, contact our park ranger who is leading the hike, Candi Hubert (candi.hubert@gmail.com).
