North Shore Bicycling For Fun

It’s going to be in the low 80’s. Let’s ride in the cool of the Bruce Freeman trail. Starting in Chelmsford going to the train station and returning . Stopping for a lunch break at our favorite bakery on the way back so pack a snacks, water etc. Quick water break at Nara park and Hearts Pond both ways. Paved trail with a little elevation at bridges. Any bike ok. About 20 miles RT. Casual ride so go the distance you are comfortable with. End time is estimated so if you have plans after, you can leave early on your own. This isn’t a rushed ride and I want to take time to enjoy the trail and take pictures. Have your tires inflated and a proper working bike please. Spare tubes are a good idea. I am not responsible for accidents, injuries or anything else that they state in the usual rides.

Be ready to ride at 9:00 am. Hopefully the continuation of nice weather days. So let’s ride from the north end of the Marsh trail into Newburyport across the bridge onto the Clipper City trail to Joppa Flats by way of the city center. We will stop at the park headquarters for restroom needs. From there we will go out to Plum Island by way of the road where we will take a break and lunch or snack. Be sure to bring water. We will return on the Clipper city trail passed the railway station, then back over the bridge and onto the Marsh trail to the beginning.

Bike helmets are mandatory when riding with us!

IMPORTANT: Be sure your bike is in good working order! Tires should be in good shape and pumped up, gears should shift smoothly, and your brakes should be properly adjusted. If possible, pack a spare tube in case of a flat. A hand pump or CO2 inflator is also desireable, though not absolutely necessary, as many riders will already have them.

Consuming alcohol before or during our events is not allowed. Although we might consider Hodges for an ice cream at rides end.

Short ride on the Tri- Community Greenway to Stoneham, then to Winchester. We will bike around for about two hours then head out to Shannon Beach for a dip (weather and water condition permitting). Trails are all paved and there are a few roads to ride on.
