About us
Welcome!
We're a Colorado social group loosely organized around the FIRE community (Financial Independence Retire Early), although mainly that's just an excuse to meet interesting, thoughtful new people.
Because of this, our events are pretty varied and random in theme. But in general we tend to do things that are positive and healthy for both us and for the world at large. Come out and join the conversation!
We also have our own "Headquarters" building in Downtown Longmont which is open to people really looking to join something cool - you can learn more at https://www.theficollective.com/
Note: this group is a strictly non-commercial place for the free exchange of ideas. To serve that purpose, all members have access to a group-wide discussion board and other tools to foster open communication. However, using the provided group communication tools to promote your product or service offerings to our members is unacceptable and may result in removal from this group upon review by our Organizers.

Sunday Morning Discussions: Are AI Mega-cap Stocks in a Bubble?
East Simpson Coffee Company, 201 E Simpson St, Lafayette, CO, USNearly all of the world's largest companies are now heavily involved in AI. But are their enormous valuations justified by the profits AI will generate, or are we witnessing a stock market bubble?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI-Wvz7jTVw
Listen to this podcast episode where two members of the FIRE community debate whether these valuations are justified. Both agree that AI is going to change the world, but they disagree about what that means for investors.
What do you think? Whether you believe we're in a bubble, think current valuations are reasonable, or fall somewhere in between, come share your thoughts.
Here are an optional article and tool if you'd like to explore the numbers in more depth, including what would be required for these companies to deliver a 10% annual return. Neither is necessary to join the discussion.
