What we’re about
The group will cover a variety of topics, and will hopefully toe the line between dense and easy-reading. Life can be busy, and it's not like we remember everything we read anyway. Several noteworthy facts or a new vantage is enough to make it worthwhile.
- This is a monthly meetup.
- Ideally the meeting place (TBD) will be a brewery or cafe.
- Genres will be historical, psychology, etc. Anything that relates to topics currently in political sphere will not be considered.
- I will bring discussion questions and my own notes, but will otherwise allow the conversation to flow freely.
Rules:
- We gather to learn, not to be right (all the time). Please listen to the speaker if they hold a different opinion.
- Though I will try to avoid politically-heated topics, they may pop up either from the text or in tangents from the discussion. In the event they do, please remember: what you say will not change the world; likely, strong rhetoric will only sour our meetup.
- Have fun.
About me:
Hi, I'm Joseph, born in Richmond, raised in Atlanta, and now back in the River City for the foreseeable future. I work as a data scientist, but am still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I ran a book club during the pandemic with my friends, but seeing as they now busy with kids, I'm starting this one to revive what I enjoy most: understanding how the world works and honing my worldview with the thoughts and opinions from others.
