Group Summary:
(For the group's FAQ, please scroll down to the end)
For pickleball players of all levels, to people who have never touched a paddle or stepped onto a pickleball court in their life, who reside in or frequently visit Miami-Dade and/or Broward, who are down to meet and play pickleball with new people and have a good time.
This group is open to anyone easygoing with a good attitude towards life.
Get-togethers will consist of playing both on established and improvised courts (indoor or outdoor), during the day and at nighttime, both in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Looking forward to meeting and playing with all of you.

*This group is for you if you can answer yes to the following questions:*
1) Have you ever seen a pickleball game and wanted to join but don't know or haven't played before?
2) Are pickleball classes/clinics intimidating for you?
3) Are you refusing to pay to join a club, reserve a court, etc?
4) Do you want to play, but no one in your friend or family group doesn't nor want to?
Then let's get together, practice, and play!

*To set expectations straight, our meetup group is not:*
1) A pickleball class (I'm not an instructor, nor planning to be)
2) A pay-to-play match (our meetup group is free-to-join and free-to-play except for when we play at indoor clubs and locations)
3) A competitive environment (come in, play, socialize, and have fun!)
4) A just focus on the match and leave (this is a fun-paced, social, and just have a fun day).

*The 4 main rules of the group are:*
1) RSVP (attend) only if you're sure you can make it. It takes a lot of time,
energy, money, and preparation to make these meetups happen.
2) Come in with a positive attitude. We all wanna play and have a good time.
3) Make sure you're physically able to play. Respectfully, neither Meetup itself nor I are to be held responsible if you get injured on the court.
4) Any unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and may result in the person (or persons) causing it being removed and banned from the group.

*Group FAQs (updated on 08/07/26)*
These are the 15 questions I'm getting the most. You don't have to read all of this, but it's here just in case:
1) What is the goal of the group?
To get together, play pickleball, and have a good time. While making a friend or two in the process.
2) Is this group for pickleball only?
Yes, Pickleball is fun enough for it to be its own group. There is no need to complicate this further by adding other sports.
3) Is there a fee to join or play?
The group is completely free to join and free to play. The only time a fee is involved is when we play at a private club, and they (not us) charge a fee to reserve and/or play on their courts.
If a meetup is posted for one of those locations, the fee schedule will be posted in advance on the meetup event page so no one gets surprised.
4) Why Miami and Broward and not just one location?
We love playing in both areas, and both have great pickleball communities.
5) Do I need to bring my own pickleball gear?
Not initially; I'm happy to lend my spare paddles, no problem. However, if this sport and group is for you, I implore you to please invest in your own gear later on.
Retailers like Target and Dick's have great deals, and it's much better to have your own paddles that you can customize and just call your own.
6). Can a meetup be cancelled because of the rain?
No, unless announced properly. I use a premium weather service that helps me keep track of the rain and other hazards.
As it has already happened before, you will see rain initially, but then it clears, like within an hour or so (sometimes even less), and many courts have their own squeegee to dry them up.
If I see that it's gonna rain the whole afternoon, evening, etc. I will announce it on the meetup event with time in advance and cancel it for everyone's safety.
7) What if a meetup event has a waitlist and I'm on it? Shall I come or not?
Please refer to what was posted in the discussion board about it.
8) I never played pickleball before. Is this group really for me? I get socially anxious when I have to approach a group.
Absolutely! We all have to start somewhere, and I'm happy that you chose to start here. We are not professionals, just people who love the sport. We'll be happy to teach you and help you become a great player.
I understand that it sucks to approach a lot of people that you don't know (because it also happens to me). I'll do my part in making you feel as welcomed as possible, but please do your part by coming in with a positive attitude.
9) I am an advanced or professional player. Is this group really for me?
Yes, but proceed with caution. Normally, professional players already have their own inner circle and don't like to play outside of it. So the fact that you choose to be here is a great honor. The majority here are beginner to intermediate players, so if you have the patience to slow down and share your experience, happy to have you.
10) I am under 18, is this group for me?
No, unless you come with your parents or legal guardian. Is a meetup policy, so I won't have the group shut down because of this.
11) I'm a senior, is this group for me?
Yes, but proceed with caution. You need to make sure you're physically able to play. Neither me nor Meetup is to be held responsible if you get injured on the court.
Pickleball is very popular in the senior community, so happy to have you here as long as you're physically and medically able to play.
12) How can I find the group?
Look for the blue cones on the court; that's us!
If the courts are numbered, I normally post the court number(s) in that specific meetup event comment section.
My number is also posted on each meetup event, but I prefer texting over calling. If I can't answer at the moment, please be patient; I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
13) What if pickleball or this group ain't for me
This may sound a little dry, but thanks for coming and thanks for playing.
There are thousands of other meetup groups that you can join. I'm sure you'll find the right one for you. Much luck and success on your journey.
If you changed your mind, as long as you left on good terms. We'll be here to welcome you back with open arms.
14) What if I don't like the people playing in the group?
I understand that South Florida is a melting pot with a very diverse community with unique behavioral patterns. However, we just wanna come, play, and have a good time. Please be courteous at all times.
Aggressive, childish, entitled, or any unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, and you may be subject to removal and being banned from the group.
15) Who am I?
My name is Andres. I like to play pickleball but didn't have anyone to play with, plus playing with random people during open play wasn't the best experience for me. Which is why I took the initiative to create this meetup group to find good people who are down to play and have a good time.
Organizing this is a hassle, but a good sacrifice to find the best and friendliest people around who love the sport as much as I do.
