Join us on Thursday evenings at 7pm in front of Parish Church for a run - we are a friendly social group and make sure that new people do not run alone.

In summer we try to run off-road to take advantage of dry footpaths. This route is approximately 6km (with an option to extend to 8km). We split into two pace groups if needed - one around 6min/km and one around 7-8min/km.

As per tradition, we will have a drink at The Old Library afterwards. Feel free to join!

Looking for a friendly board game group? Come and join us!

We’re a welcoming group of around 30+ regular members who meet every Thursday evening at the Oak House Club. While many of our regulars don’t RSVP through Meetup, but we always welcome new players, whether you’re an experienced gamer or completely new to modern board games.

🎲 What We Play

On a typical evening, we have 3–4 tables running, depending on attendance, with a variety of games to suit different tastes and experience levels.

Our library includes:

• Classics like Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, and Ticket to Ride
• Strategy games such as Agricola, Condottiere, and Torres
• Adventure games like Shadows over Camelot and Race for the Galaxy
• Fan favourites including Formula D, Seven Wonders, and many more!

Don’t worry if you’ve never played before, we’re always happy to explain the rules and help you find a table that suits you.

⏰ Arrival Time

We usually start playing at 8:00 pm, so please try to arrive 5–10 minutes early. This gives everyone time to settle in, choose games, and get the tables organised before we begin.

Two hikes in one weekend! Routes subject to change pending weather conditions

We will meet on both days (Saturday and Sunday) at 9am since the Lakes will be busy at this time of year.

Day 1 - Fairfield Horseshoe 10.2 miles

A classic lake district walk completing 8 wain**-**wrights and taking in great views of Windermere, Grasmere and Rydal water.

Yes. We will meet at Rydal road car park but if the car park is full then anywhere in Ambleside should suffice.

Day 2 - Thirlmere Infinity Pool 1.8 miles

Short 1.8 mile hike to finish off the weekend with a place to swim if the weather is warm.

👞 What should I wear?
Wear walking boots/shoes or sturdy trainers bringing a waterproof coat is also recommended.
Additionally...
If it's cold: gloves, hat, scarf, warm trousers and a fleece/warm top.
If it's hot: sunscreen, hat, a pair of shades and a thin top - it may get hot.

🥪 Do I need to bring food?
A packed lunch, snacks and water are recommended.

🚶 How hard is this walk?
This walk is difficult - a suitable level of fitness is necessary.
I have never walked with the group before and/or don't know anyone, can I still come?
Yes! This group is a great way to meet new people, socialise, get out in nature and improve your fitness. We welcome any and all people to come along.

🚗 I can't get to the walk, are lift shares available?
There are a few methods to look for lift shares:
- Post a comment on the event
• We also encourage people that are coming along to offer lift shares to others when possible.

🐶 Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Dogs are welcome provided they are well behaved around people/other dogs and kept on a lead/under control in areas where there may be livestock.

It is unlikely the walk leader will read messages on the day, especially minutes before the event starts, so please try to contact them in advance with queries.

Come join us to draw/paint/knit over a coffee/pint/snack in the Fat Pug! (Up stairs in the private room) We are a group of creative individuals that enjoys creating art and socialising with like minded peers.

We range from hobbyist to professional artists, children to veterans. Anyone’s welcomed!

We only ask for keeping the venue clean and be respectful others.

Our group has been running for some years now and has matured enough that I (the host) may occasion be unavailable to turn up and the session will still run perfectly fine.
