Welcome to our July gathering of Melbourne Women's Big Ideas Book Club! If you love discovering great books and discussing the ideas they spark, we'd love to have you join us. This is a relaxed monthly lunch where every member brings along a book they've recently enjoyed. There are no set reads and no genre restrictions—just thoughtful books and interesting women. Each member has the opportunity to share what they've been reading, what resonated, what challenged them, or what fell short. From there, the conversation naturally evolves as we explore new perspectives, exchange recommendations, and connect through a shared love of reading. Whether you're a regular attendee or joining us for the first time, you'll find a welcoming group of curious, intelligent women who enjoy meaningful conversation and genuine connection. I can't wait to hear what you've been reading this month.

JustUs: The Page Turners Book Club

Thu, Jul 9, 7:00 AM
From JustUs

Our book club is designed for disabled adults who enjoy reading and thoughtful discussion. The club explores a range of accessible books across different genres throughout the year. Each month, members read an assigned book and receive a small set of questions to think about while reading. When the group meets, discussion is open and welcoming, encouraging participants to share their ideas and interpretations. The focus is not only on reading, but on learning how to engage with stories, exploring characters, themes and different perspectives while building confidence in discussions. Our second book is **Wurrtoo, The Wombat Who Fell In Love with the Sky**, a heartwarming and beautifully illustrated middle-grade novel from Tylissa Elisara that follows Wurrtoo the wombat on his quest to marry the love of his life, the sky, while facing his fears and learning the importance of friendship along the way. https://tally.so/r/EkJlGr

Frequently asked questions

Book drives are events where people donate books for charity or community purposes. In Melbourne, these might involve participating in local events where you can contribute your used books, meet other book lovers, and engage with the local literary community. It's a great way to give back while enjoying shared literary interests.

To find book drives in Melbourne, use Meetup to search for events focused on books or charity initiatives. Simply enter "Book Drives Melbourne" into the search bar, and browse upcoming events or groups hosting drives. You can also explore communities with interests in literature and giving back.

Yes, you can join multiple book drive groups in Melbourne. Meetup allows you to become part of various groups to maximize your involvement in the city's book-loving community. Just find the groups that match your interests and start participating.

You can typically donate all genres of books as long as they are in decent condition. However, each book drive may have specific guidelines, so it's best to check the event details for any restrictions on book donations.

The frequency of book drives depends on the organizers and the community's activity level. Some groups hold regular events, while others might organize occasional drives. Checking upcoming events on Meetup can give you current information about what's happening in Melbourne.
