Book Club - The Psychology of Money

Book Club - The Psychology of Money

Thu, Sep 3, 12:30 AM
From Cafe Finance

We will kick start the first event with the discussion of the book "The Psychology of Money". It will be at least 8 weeks series. Once we start reading it, we will adjust it depending on everyone's pace and participation. Please read at least two chapters. For the first event, it will be the introduction and chapter 1. We will have wrap party at the last session of this book. Update: Since it is a easy read book, we have decided to read and discuss 4 chapters for each reading. I will update chapters to read at each event in the **Comment** area down below. Make sure to check it out. **How to find us** I will be at 2nd floor. Take the escalator up. I will be at your right with a green sign "Cafe Finance" when you stand at the entrance. **Agenda** 5:30 \~ 6:00 pm Sharing and Networking ( You can buy or bring food to eat while we are discussing the book) 6:00 \~ 7:30 pm Book Discussion 7:30 \~ 8:00 pm Conclusion & Final thought **About the book** Doing well with money isn't necessarily about what you know. It's about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people. Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don't make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In the Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to mkae better sense of one of life's most important topics.

Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner

Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner

Sat, Aug 22, 1:30 AM
From Pride & Petals: Sapphic Romance Book Club

For our August 21st book club, we have chosen *Cleat Cute* by Meryl Wilsner: Lace up your cleats! Our next Sapphic Book Club pick is *Cleat Cute*, a funny, steamy romance filled with fierce competition, undeniable attraction, and irresistible chemistry. Grace Henderson has spent the last decade as a star on the U.S. Women's National Team, but when an injury sidelines her, rising rookie Phoebe Matthews steps into the spotlight. Phoebe is everything Grace isn't; playful, outgoing, and completely unafraid to enjoy the game. What starts as a rivalry quickly turns into a teammates-with-benefits arrangement that neither of them can seem to resist. As the World Cup draws closer, Grace fights to earn her place back on the roster while Phoebe navigates her rookie season. A series of hilarious misunderstandings leaves them seeing their relationship in very different ways, forcing them to decide if they're willing to risk their hearts while chasing the biggest dream of their careers. Whether you're a soccer fan or simply love a romance with humor, heart, and unforgettable chemistry, *Cleat Cute* is a book you won't want to miss. And don't forget, you can always stop by the store to grab your copy of *Cleat Cute* at Pride & Petals. YOU HAVE TO CLICK THE LINK TO THE EVENTBRITE PAGE AND PURCHASE A TICKET THERE. It's a fun new twist on speed dating! Let's face it, we're all tired of the endless online swiping on dating apps and this event is the perfect way to meet other singles in real life. Age Range: 20s, 30s, 40s **HOW THE EVENT WORKS...** \- At each Dating Games Singles Event event we book a reserved area with some tables at a cool bar with a great vibe \- After you get your ticket we give you the event reservation name\.\.\. When you arrive you just tell the venue host the reservation name and you'll be directed to the event area where you'll get to meet the other fun singles who are also looking to meet new people\. \- You'll be playing fun and easy icebreaker games to get to know everyone\. \- After the event you'll be a able to login to our app where you'll be able to select the people you'd like to stay in touch with \(scroll down for more details about how that works\)\. \- We usually have between 12 and 20 people at each event\. The amount of people varies from event to event but you'll definitely get to meet a good amount of people without being overwhelmed by a huge crowd\. We keep the events fairly small and intimate so you really get to know everyone and make real connections\. \- Our host will walk you through the event via video on your phone \(so there's no awkward check in process or silly name tags\) \- The coolest part about the event is that no one else at the venue will even know you're at a singles event\. It will just look like a group of friends having fun around a table\! \- During the fun icebreaker games you can order cocktails \(or non\-alcoholic mocktails\) to get everyone talking and then move into the games \(feel free to order food/appetizers if you'd like to as well\. Everyone pays for their own tab at the venue\) *\*\* QUICK NOTE: WE WILL BE RAISING THE TICKET PRICE EVERY FEW DAYS AND BECAUSE WE LIMIT THE SPOTS AVAILABLE, THE EVENT WILL VERY LIKELY SELL OUT BEFORE THE EVENT TIME GRAB YOUR TICKET ASAP TO MAKE SURE YOU GET A SPOT. \*\** **WHAT ARE THE ICEBREAKER GAMES ALL ABOUT?** You'll be playing fun games like "Friendly Feud" which is similar to the popular prime time TV show we all know. In this game you and the other singles at the table will be asked fun questions like, "Name a gift that women love men to give them". You will try to come up with the most popular answer and then you'll find out if you got the top answer. Another popular game we sometimes play is Blank Slate where you have to try to guess the most popular fill in the blank answer to questions like, _________ TIME . You'd have to try to come up with the most popular answer... is it PARTY TIME? Is it NIGHT TIME? Or maybe it's SHOWTIME. **HERE'S THE REALLY COOL PART!** This event has led to countless relationships and new friendships formed because after the event you'll be able to stay in touch with the people you met at the event by reaching out and contacting them on our app. After the event is over we allow you to login to the app and **swipe on the people you'd like to stay in touch with!** It's similar to a dating app but you'll have actually met and mingled with the people in person before deciding if you want to match and stay in touch with them! After you get your ticket you'll be able to upload a photo of yourself on our webpage (only viewable by the other event attendees). After you sign up you will get an email from us with instructions on how to upload your photo to our app/webpage. It's the perfect way to meet someone, merging new technology and good old fashioned meeting in real life! \*\*\* IMPORTANT! IF YOU DON'T SEE AN EMAIL FROM US AFTER YOU SIGN UP MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER. THAT EMAIL CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT AND GETTING ONTO THE APP \*\*\* *A message we received about one of our recent events: "I had a great time at the event. The people were really friendly and the games were a lot of fun. It was a refreshing change of pace from the dating apps" - Leah* \*\* QUICK NOTE: Because the venue is giving us their valuable table space we ask that you order a 1 drink minimum or if you don't drink alcohol at least a soda or juice.
