Book Club - The Psychology of Money

We will kick start the first event with the discussion of the book "The Psychology of Money". It will be at least 8 weeks series. Once we start reading it, we will adjust it depending on everyone's pace and participation. Please read at least two chapters. For the first event, it will be the introduction and chapter 1. We will have wrap party at the last session of this book. Update: Since it is a easy read book, we have decided to read and discuss 4 chapters for each reading. It's about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people. Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don't make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In the Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to mkae better sense of one of life's most important topics.

Cafe Social

**Friends** Please read carefully as there is new info here. This event meets 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month. **This week we are meeting at Espresso Roma Cafe in Berkeley. There are a few picnic tables on the side of the cafe that can accommodate about 24 people. When facing the cafe they are on the left side in the grassy area. We may meet there or at the long tables under the canopy depending upon availability. For new attendees we will have a balloon on the table to identify our group. We hope new people will become regulars to this social group, Do not attend if you are on the waitlist as this is causing the crowd to get too large. Sign up early as seating is limited at the cafe. If you show up and are not on the going list you will be asked to leave or sit somewhere else. Three no shows will get you removed from the group so please change your RSVP if you cannot make it and give someone on the waitlist a chance to come. Please don’t do this at the last minute unless it’s an emergency. We will initially allow 10 members on the going list and then we will be adding people from the waitlist balancing out the event by gender. We will be posting the coffee meetups month by month to give more of the newcomers a chance to sign up and get a spot.
