A weekly writing session brought to you by Paris Lit Up. Every Sunday morning, we get together at Neuvième Sauvage for two hours of writing. There are no exercises, workshops or assigned prompts. The idea is simply to have a regular time and place to sit down, work on whatever you’re writing, and do it in the company of other writers. Bring whatever you’re working on—fiction, poetry, nonfiction, a screenplay, an essay, or anything else—and whatever you like to write with. Laptops, tablets, notebooks and pens are all welcome. From 10:00 to 12:00, we write. There’s no pressure to share your work or talk about what you’re writing during the session. You can simply grab a coffee, find a seat and get some words down. Neuvième Sauvage also has good coffee and some nice breakfast options if you’d like something while you write. At 12:00, once the two hours of writing are over, those who want to stick around are invited to share what they’ve been working on. You can read something aloud, talk a little about what you’ve been writing, or just listen. Other participants are welcome to offer some light feedback, and it’s also a chance to chat and socialise after the morning’s writing. The Sunday Writing Sessions are free to attend. Nous vous proposons de nous retrouver pour un nouvel atelier d'écriture, animé par Juliette Amans, en cette rentrée littéraire. Grâce à des jeux de plumes ludiques et accessibles à tous, cette auteure passionnée et expérimentée, crée des univers inspirants. Que vous soyez débutant ou non, vous pourrez laisser libre cours à toute votre créativité. Le salon du chef de gare du Poinçon, spécialement loué pour l'occasion, vous apportera une atmosphère cosy et calme, propice à l'imagination. Comme à chaque fois, le thème vous sera révélé par Juliette Amans, en début de séance. L'atelier est payant. Le tarif est de 25 euros par personne, pour deux heures, payable via WERO. Right Bank Writers’ Group — French-to-English Translation Workshop

A literary translation workshop brought to you by Paris Lit Up. On the last Saturday of every month, the Right Bank Writers’ Group turns its attention to the art — and occasional impossibility — of translating French into English. Together, we’ll work on a French-language text and explore the different ways it might live in English. We’ll compare choices, discuss tone, rhythm, meaning and style, and tackle those words and expressions that never seem to have one perfect translation. This is a collaborative workshop: there isn’t necessarily one “correct” answer, and the discussion is as important as the finished translation. You do not need to be a professional translator to join us. Writers, translators, language lovers and anyone curious about the relationship between French and English are welcome. Bring something to write with. Any texts or materials needed for the session will be provided. A creative writing workshop brought to you by Paris Lit Up. On the first Saturday of every month, the Right Bank Writers’ Group gets together to write, experiment and see where a prompt might take us. During the workshop, we’ll work through a variety of creative writing exercises exploring things like character, dialogue, description, voice, structure and storytelling. Some exercises might last just a few minutes, while others give you more time to develop an idea. There’s no pressure to produce something polished — the aim is to write, experiment and try things out. There will also be opportunities to share what you’ve written with the group if you’d like to. Whether you write fiction, poetry, nonfiction or something that doesn’t quite fit into a category, you’re welcome. No preparation or existing work is required. Just bring a notebook and a pen. No laptops or tablets. The workshop costs 5€, which helps Paris Lit Up cover the cost of renting the space. Cash and card accepted. When you arrive, just tell the friendly folks at La Boheme reception that you are with the writing group. They will give you a little wooden knick-knack with the wifi codes and a number that they use to determine the cost based on time spent (it's 3,80 € per hour, paid at the end). ***Now, about Ready-Set-Write! ..*.** Ready Set Write! is a regular meeting of motivated writers who grab a beverage, then shut up and write. ***What it is:*** An opportunity for writers to get together and do short, intense bursts of writing. We write for 45-ish minutes, take a 15 minute break, rinse & repeat. ***What it is NOT:*** neither a forum for critiquing each other's work, nor shameless self-promoting your projects or groups. A writers’ feedback workshop brought to you by Paris Lit Up. Bring something you’ve been working on — prose, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or anything in between — and get thoughtful feedback from fellow writers. Each writer gets a 20-minute slot, divided between reading their work aloud and receiving feedback from the group. How you divide your time is up to you — as a guide, 1,000 words takes around eight minutes to read aloud. If you’d like to share your work: * Bring at least 10 printed copies for the group. * All genres are welcome. * Reading slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. * If there isn’t enough time for everyone to read, those who miss out will be given priority at the next feedback workshop. You don’t have to bring your own work to take part. Readers, listeners and thoughtful critics are equally welcome. This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, six copies, printed out and no longer than seven pages, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 6, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. If you have nothing to read but would like to come and listen, you are most welcome too. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.
