Your journey begins just seventy-five miles from the hustle and bustle of Washington, D.C., at one of the most popular and scenic national parks. With over 200,000 acres of protected lands, Shenandoah National Park has numerous cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, fields of wildflower, quiet wooded hollows, and is a haven for deer, songbirds, and black bears. We will learn about the park's history and the fascinating stories of the rugged individuals who once lived there. The tour includes a stop at one of the best visitor's centers on the Skyline Drive, the Harry F. Byrd Visitor Center at the Big Meadows area. Additional photo-stops will be made at several overlooks along the Skyline Drive, offering you the opportunity to view many of the most scenic vistas in the eastern United States and breathtaking views of the land Shenandoah Valley more than four thousand feet below.

A refund minus a $25.00 cancellation fee per person will be given for any cancellation that is made 45 days prior to the departure date (which is the same as the balance due date). Any cancellation made after the 45 days will result in a forfeiture of any amounts paid by the customer (no option of transferring the money paid onto another tour or transferred to another person)

The day starts with Amtrak in the am. up to NYC.

We grab lunch near Penn Station, then on to The Tenement Museum.

The Tenement Museum preserves the history of immigration through the personal accounts of those who built lives in the Lower East Side. Visitors can view restored apartments from the 19th and 20th centuries, walk the historic neighborhood, and interact with residents to learn the stories of generations of immigrants who helped shape the American experience. The museum is available by guided tour only.

Be sure to take note of the number of steps involved to access some of these apartments. These are old buildings built in the 1800's, don't count on an elevator. I will be visiting one of the lower floors.

Tenement's website says no refunds or exchanges. I called them and they stated they would exchange for us to a later date if there is bad weather, if we call a day in advance.

Next, we head to Brooklyn for more grub if we feel like it, then on to walk over the famous Brooklyn Bridge for a fabulous view of the Manhattan skyline at sunset!.

After that, head back to Penn Station and home.

We are catching Amtrak train #152 from Penn Station, departing 9:06am, returning from NYP on train #165, departing New York at 8:01pm. Round trip tickets are currently about $100 round trip.

I recommend buying refundable Amtrak tickets in case of bad weather. If the forecast is not good, we will postpone for another day.
