Malveira da Serra - Tholos do Monge - Ante de Adrenunes - Peninha (~13km/507m)

Hike Description:We'll explore some beautiful trails of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, walking from Malveira da Serra to Tholos do Monge - Ante de Adrenunes - Peninha, before returning to Malveira da Serra. We'll enjoy forest trails, wide views and the peaceful surroundings of the Sintra hills.
We could have a longer stop, for our packed lunch/snacks, at Anta de Adrenunes or at Peninha.
The route is approximately 13 km, with 507 m elevation gain, and should take about 5 hours, depending on our pace and on our rest and lunch stops.
This is a circular hike, starting and finishing in Malveira da Serra. We'll be walking on natural trails, which may include rocky and uneven ground, uphill and downhill sections. As November weather can be unpredictable, please check the forecast before setting out and come prepared for possible rain or muddy paths.
What to bring:
- Comfortable hiking shoes
- Water (at least 1.5 L)
- A packed lunch / snacks
- Layers suitable for changing temperatures or wind
- Optionally, hiking poles if you find them useful on uneven terrain
Meeting Time & Place:
We'll meet at Panisol, a bakery and café in Malveira da Serra, at 10:30 AM on Sunday, November 15.
We'll start walking shortly after everyone has arrived.Getting there by public transport from Lisbon:
- • 09:20 AM: Train from Cais do Sodré.
• 10:00 AM: Arrive at Cascais Station.
• 10:00 AM–10:10 AM: Short walk out of the station, across the street, to the Cascais Bus Terminal (near Cascais Villa shopping center)
• 10:10 AM: 1624 Bus leaves (towards Portela de Sintra, via Cabo da Roca).
• 10:26 AM: Arrive at Rua de Cascais 210 stop in Malveira da Serra, 1 min walk from Panisol, meeting place.
Getting back:
This is a circular hike, so we'll finish back in Malveira da Serra.
We'll confirm the return public transport options closer to the date. Please allow some flexibility in your plans, as the finishing time will depend on the group's pace and breaks.Other Information
