## 🥾 Is This Adventure Right for You?

I want everyone joining us to have an incredible experience, and it's important to understand that this is an active, physically challenging adventure.

Gorilla trekking can involve 2–7 hours of hiking through steep, muddy, uneven rainforest terrain at higher elevations. We'll also experience early mornings, long scenic drives, and several days of trekking.

You don't need to be a professional athlete, but you do need to be physically prepared, comfortable hiking unassisted, and excited about a little adventure!

## 🦍 Ready to Join Us? Here's How to Claim Your Spot!

STEP 1: Review the Itinerary
Download and read the complete Rwanda 2027 Trip Guide attached. Make sure the activities, physical requirements, dates, and pricing work for you.

STEP 2: Let Me Know You're Interested
RSVP to this Meetup event and send me an email message letting me know you'd like to join. My email address is trish.mahan@fora.travel. You can also send me a message on whatsapp +17203718602

Please indicate whether you're interested in double or single occupancy.

STEP 3: Complete the Traveler Information Form

STEP 4: Review Your Reservation & Deposit Requirements
I'll confirm current availability, final pricing, required deposit, payment deadlines, and cancellation conditions before you make your commitment.

Important: Gorilla trekking permits are highly regulated. The $1,500 gorilla permit becomes nonrefundable once booked, so please review all terms carefully.

STEP 5: Secure Your Reservation!
Once your booking and required payment have been confirmed, your place on our Rwanda adventure will be secured.

## ❤️ Why Travel With It's My Time to Travel?

Because travel is about so much more than checking destinations off a bucket list.

It's about the people you meet, the conversations you share, the moments that take your breath away, and the friendships that develop along the way.

Some of our travelers arrive knowing no one. They leave with new friends, shared memories, and a whole new circle of travel companions.
That's exactly why I created It's My Time to Travel.

We believe that being over 50 doesn't mean slowing down. It means having the freedom, curiosity, and courage to experience more of this extraordinary world.

Only 8 spots are available.
If you've been waiting for a truly unforgettable African adventure, this might be your moment.

Have you ever dreamed of standing just a few feet away from a mountain gorilla in its natural habitat?

Imagine trekking through a lush African rainforest, surrounded by mist-covered mountains, when suddenly your guide signals for everyone to stop.

There, just ahead, is a family of endangered mountain gorillas.

For one extraordinary hour, you'll have the opportunity to observe these magnificent animals in the wild. No cages. No barriers. Just you, the forest, and one of the most remarkable wildlife encounters on Earth.

But Rwanda is about so much more than gorillas!

Join us for a relaxed, interactive Zoom gathering where we'll explore our upcoming Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Adventure, departing August 12, 2027, discover the history, culture, wildlife, and natural beauty of this fascinating country, and meet other 50+ travelers who share our love of adventure.

Whether Rwanda has been on your bucket list for years or you're just beginning to dream about Africa, this gathering is for you.

You don't need to be booked. You don't need a travel companion. And you definitely don't need to know anyone before joining us.

That's exactly why It's My Time to Travel exists!

Come curious. Come solo. Leave with new connections!

    ## 🌍 What Will We Discover?

    ### 🦍 Mountain Gorillas: An Encounter of a Lifetime

We'll explore what it's really like to trek through Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park in search of endangered mountain gorillas.

How challenging is the trek? How close do you get? What happens when you encounter a gorilla family? What if you're concerned about your physical abilities?

We'll discuss the experience, fitness considerations, trekking permits, safety precautions, and what makes this wildlife encounter so extraordinary.

    ### 🦁 An African Safari: Lions, Elephants & More!

Gorillas may be the stars of this adventure, but they're certainly not the only wildlife we'll encounter!

We'll discover Akagera National Park, home to lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and an extraordinary variety of birds.

Imagine exploring the African savanna in a safari vehicle, watching wildlife in its natural environment, and sharing those unforgettable moments with your travel companions.

    ### 🇷🇼 Discover Rwanda: The Land of a Thousand Hills

Rwanda is a country of breathtaking landscapes, fascinating traditions, and remarkable resilience.

We'll explore Kigali, learn about Rwanda's history and its journey of reconciliation following the 1994 genocide, and discover how conservation, tourism, and community initiatives are helping shape the country's future.

We'll also introduce cultural experiences such as the King's Palace Museum in Nyanza, where history and traditions offer a deeper understanding of Rwandan life.

    ### 🌿 Conservation, Communities & Meaningful Travel

What makes Rwanda's conservation story so remarkable?

We'll learn about efforts to protect endangered mountain gorillas, the role of local communities, and how responsible tourism contributes to conservation.

For me, travel isn't simply about seeing beautiful places. It's about understanding the people, wildlife, history, and stories that make each destination unique.

    ### 🥾 Can I Really Do This at 50, 60, 70 or Beyond?

    This is an important conversation!

Gorilla trekking requires preparation, and the terrain can be steep, muddy, and unpredictable. Trekking times and difficulty vary depending on the location of the gorilla families.

We'll discuss realistic fitness expectations, equipment, preparation, and available assistance so you can make an informed decision about whether this adventure is right for you.

Age alone doesn't determine your ability to have an adventure. Preparation, health, mobility, and realistic expectations matter much more.

    ## 🤝 Why Travel With a 50+ Small Group?

One of the most important parts of our adventures happens long before we board an airplane.

We get to know one another!

Traveling to an unfamiliar destination can feel intimidating, especially when you're traveling solo. That's why I organize opportunities for our travelers to connect, ask questions, learn, and prepare together before departure.

    We'll talk about:

    • Safety and support: The comfort of traveling with an organized group, experienced local guides, and fellow travelers looking out for one another.
    • Pre-trip connections: Getting acquainted through Zoom gatherings so you recognize friendly faces before arriving in Rwanda.
    • Education and preparation: Understanding passports, visas, vaccinations, travel insurance, packing, physical preparation, and cultural expectations.
    • Solo but not alone: You don't need to convince a friend or partner to join you. Come on your own and meet people who share your curiosity.
    • Friendships and shared experiences: Some of the strongest friendships begin when strangers explore the world together.

We don't just put people on the same itinerary. We create a travel community.

    ## ✈️ A First Look at Our August 2027 Adventure

We'll introduce our Rwanda itinerary, including wildlife safaris, cultural experiences, beautiful landscapes, and our unforgettable mountain gorilla trek.

    We'll also review:

    • Our August 12, 2027 departure
    • What's included in the journey
    • Our additional day to rest and prepare before trekking
    • Travel arrangements and accommodations
    • Gorilla trekking requirements and permits
    • Pricing, deposits, and booking procedures
    • Our 8 available spaces and how to reserve yours

There is no obligation to book. This is an opportunity to explore, learn, ask questions, and decide whether Rwanda belongs on your adventure calendar.

    ## 💬 Let's Get to Know Each Other!

    This isn't a lecture or a sales presentation. It's a conversation!

We'll introduce ourselves, share our travel dreams, discuss what excites us about Rwanda, and talk openly about any concerns.

Are you fascinated by wildlife? Passionate about conservation? Curious about African history and culture? Or simply ready to do something extraordinary?

I'd love to hear your story.

    ## 🌎 It's Your Time. Just Not Alone.

I'm Trish Mahan, founder of It's My Time to Travel, a travel community created for adults 50+ who want to keep exploring, learning, connecting, and living life fully.

I believe the world is too fascinating to stop exploring simply because we don't have someone to travel with.

You don't have to wait for the perfect travel companion.

Sometimes the best travel companions are the people you haven't met yet.

So grab your favorite beverage, get comfortable, and join us for a little armchair travel to Rwanda.

You may discover that your next great adventure is closer than you think!
