For this event, you may experience Ireland up close: At the Irish Tune Session, musicians spontaneously play traditional jigs, reels and polkas – in the middle of the pub, right at the table. No stage, no fixed program – the music is created together and provides a lively, rustic atmosphere. Whether for playing, listening, rocking along or dancing with you – a session is a piece of Ireland right in the pub.

Musicians are also welcome without registration. The basis is traditional and modern tunes (jigs, reels, polkas, etc., usually no songs). If you’ve never played at a session before, come over and get to know it!

Afrika neu denken 2026 is a conference that explores Africa’s perspectives on global politics, development, and international relations. It brings together African voices, researchers, and communities to discuss Africa’s future, challenges, and opportunities while challenging common stereotypes. The event also offers an opportunity to connect with African culture and perspectives, with food and shared meals potentially adding to the experience.

Der legendäre Liedermacher Wolf Biermann hat schon immer polarisiert – bis heute. Seit über 60 Jahren sorgt die poetische Kraft seiner Texte für kleine und große politische Beben. Und so ist die Musik der Ausgangspunkt, sich dieser Jahrhundertpersönlichkeit filmisch zu nähern. Einem Mann, der die Dialektik lebt und lebendig macht, weil er sie auf seine verschmitzte Art sehr ernst nimmt. Er erklärt die Welt, indem er sie unablässig in Frage und gerne auf den Kopf stellt. Und bewahrt dabei Haltung.

Die Kamera begleitet den 90-Jährigen bei der Begegnung mit jungen Künstler.innen, Politiker.innen sowie seiner Familie und verwebt dieses Material mit ikonischen, teils unveröffentlichten Archivaufnahmen. So entsteht ein mitreißendes und sehr persönliches Kaleidoskop eines Lebens, eine einzigartige Biografie eines einzigartigen Menschen. Denn: Mit keinem lebenden Künstler ist deutsch-deutsche Geschichte so eng verbunden wie mit Wolf Biermann.

BIERMANN ist ein Dokumentarfilm des Europäischen Filmpreis- und Golden Globe-Gewinners Jens Meurer über das Leben und Werk des Dichters und Liedermachers Wolf Biermann. Der Film zeichnet seine Biografie als unmittelbaren und hautnahen Rückblick nach und verbindet persönliche Erinnerungen mit politischer Zeitgeschichte. Im Zentrum stehen Biermanns Herkunft, seine Hinwendung zur Musik, sein Wirken in der DDR, das Kölner Konzert von 1976 und dessen Folgen sowie sein künstlerisches Arbeiten bis in die Gegenwart.
