This AllTrails link gives you an idea of what we are doing, but it's not exactly the same as what I am planning. Please read the detailed description below: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/new-york/storm-king-mountain-and-north-point-storm-king-mountain-loop
Hike Snapshot:
Total Mileage: approximately 11.5 miles
Total Elevation Gain: approximately 3600 feet
Estimated Hike Time: approximately 4.5-5.5 hours, including breaksWe will meet in the Stowell trailhead. We start at 8:45 AM SHARP and will not start later than that.
The route is fairly complicated so do not hesitate to go over it with me at the start of and during the hike so you're sure of where to go in case you get separated.
Precise Route (elevation listed is the gain per section; elevation loss not shown):
From the trailhead, we hike south and continue in that direction as we intersect with the Yellow trail and take a short break (600').
Make a right on the Blue/Red trail for a steep climb followed by a short break (500').
Make a left on Yellow to summit Storm King (100').
Continue on Yellow and then make a right on White, continuing all the way to the upper parking lot (100')
Follow the Orange trail to Butter Hill (400')
Continue on Orange and then bear right on Yellow.
Make a right on Blue and descend till we reconnect with White.
Make a right on White, then 0.1 miles later make a left on Blue for a steep and treacherous descent (150').
Make a left on White and follow it till we reach the Pitching Point parking lot.
Take the Blue trail up a very steep climb past Pitching Point to a lookout where we will take a 10-20 min break (750').
Continue on Blue for 3 miles all the way to the upper White trail (not the lower one that goes to the Pitching Point lot) followed by a short break (800').
Make a right on White and follow it to the junction of Yellow (250').
Bear right on Yellow and follow for 2 miles back to the parking lot. Beware of any herd paths and road walks that look tempting here; just bear right at any junctions.
