About us
Hi, I’m Maddy! I love exploring Austin’s trails and getting outside whenever I can. Over time, I kept hearing the same thing from friends: “Take me hiking with you next time!” So I decided to turn that into something bigger.
This group is a space for anyone who wants to get outside, meet new people, and enjoy Austin’s nature together. All hikes are casual, welcoming, and open to the public. Feel free to bring friends, family, or your pup along.
Most group hikes last about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the trail, time of day, and group pace.
I’ll also be hosting a variety of themed hikes and experiences, and I’m always open to new ideas. If there’s something you’d love to see, feel free to reach out.
You can follow along or message me on Instagram at @HikewithMaddyATX for updates and more info.

Weeknight Hike at Bull Creek
6899 Lakewood Drive, 6899 Lakewood Dr, Austin, TX 78731, USA, Austin, TX, USBull Creek Weeknight Walk 🌿
Hey y’all! Come unwind with Hike with Maddy ATX on Thursday, October 22, for an evening walk at Bull Creek. We’ll follow the Bull Creek District Park and Valburn South Hook Loop, enjoy some creekside time, and catch the last bit of daylight together.
It will be completely dark around 7PM, so we will only have time for about an hour and a half hike. Unfortunately the HWMATX hikes will have to be a little shorter in the winter months! I recommend bringing a headlamp with you just in case we get caught in the dark.
📅 When: Thursday, October 22 at 5:30 PM
📍 Where: Bull Creek District Park. Check the AllTrails link for our route and meeting point.
🥾 Trail: Natural surface with some uneven and rocky sections
⏱️ Pace: Conversational. We’ll adjust our turnaround as needed so everyone can be back before dark.
🚗 Parking: At Bull Creek District Park.
🎒 Bring: Water, comfortable walking shoes, and a headlamp or flashlight in case we finish after sunset.
Whether you’re coming straight from work or just want a little fresh air and good company, I’d love to see you out there! 💚21 attendees

UPDATE: I forgot this is going to be the last day of ACL! We need to avoid Zilker Park parking like the plague!!! We will switch up this route and will meet at the Hill of Life Barton Creek Greenbelt Trailhead, then walk all the way to Zilker Park, and then back to Hill of Life!
Hey y’all, it’s my birthday week! And do you know what this crazy girl wants for her birthday?! To trek the entire 14.5 miles of the Barton Creek Greenbelt!
Join Hike with Maddy ATX on Sunday, October 25 at 9:00AM, for an epic birthday hiking adventure. We will start at the Hill of Life trailhead, hike the entire 7.25 miles to Zilker Park (it will be the last day of ACL!!), and then turn around and do it all again!
This will be a long and challenging hike over rocky, uneven terrain, but we will keep a supportive group pace and take breaks along the way. I expect the full trek to take approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on the group’s pace and how long we stop.
Not ready to commit to all 14.5 miles? No worries! You are welcome to join us for as much of the hike as feels good to you. Since this is an out-and-back route, you can turn around earlier and return to the Hill of Life trailhead whenever you are ready.
